
We are SLAA: we bring literature to everyone in Amsterdam. We do this through online and offline programs such as podcasts, open mics, and a wide variety of live performances in Amsterdam’s many vibrant neighborhoods. We are also the home of Amsterdam’s City Poet.
As a foundation, we receive ongoing funding from the AFK; the new funding period begins in 2025.
Due to the expiration of board terms, we are looking for new board members! Do you have an interest in literature and culture, and would you like to contribute to SLAA’s mission? We currently have openings for a treasurer and a general board member.
The Board sets policy, oversees the foundation’s activities, assists the Executive Board with both solicited and unsolicited advice, and meets an average of six times a year. Board members are appointed for a four-year term; this is an unpaid position. In return, you’ll gain access to a wealth of literary programs! We strive for a diverse team with knowledge of the literary field, the book trade, and the cultural sector, as well as expertise in finance, human resources, organizational management, or legal affairs, depending on the board portfolio.

The board meets about six times a yearin Amsterdam (usually not in July and August). In the spring, we ask for extra effort in connection with the annual financial statements, and in the fall, in connection with the preparation of the annual budget.
