Are you the assistant regional manager who can provide coaching and guidance to location managers while also excelling at achieving shared goals? Would you like to work with an enthusiastic and energetic team to provide safe housing and a future for unaccompanied young people who have applied for asylum? Then we’re looking for you!
You will be working in the Central-Northern region, where there are various reception centers for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (UMAs). These are young people between the ages of 13 and 18 with diverse backgrounds and life stories. They have come to the Netherlands alone, sharing a single common desire: a safe place to stay and a chance at a future.
As an assistant regional manager, you will work alongside the regional manager to oversee the locations in the region, with a focus on those in the provinces of Overijssel and Flevoland. You will make a significant contribution to achieving the goals outlined in the multi-year plan. In doing so, you will engage location managers and location teams in a collaborative manner regarding the plans and changes within the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA). You are an essential link between the managers and the regional manager. You identify potential bottlenecks and ensure constructive solutions. You advise the regional manager with concrete proposals regarding the implementation of policy in your area of focus, formulate tactical and strategic goals, and ensure their realization. In short, you make a significant contribution to the COA’s core values: dignity, collaboration, openness, and a results-oriented approach.
Ideally, you live in the Flevoland or Overijssel region, though this is not a requirement. You will coordinate your location and responsibilities with the regional manager, regularly discussing results achieved, ongoing projects, and the allocation of personnel and finances. In your role, strong communication skills are essential because you will have frequent contact with internal and external stakeholders. You will regularly represent COA in various meetings and promote COA policy. You are part of the regional management team, report to the regional manager, and work in an energetic and committed team.
Because you play a key role in your work as an assistant regional manager at COA, it is important that you have strong communication skills, can work independently, and demonstrate inclusive leadership. You are able to engage in dialogue at various levels and know how to inspire others. You are also persuasive, flexible, and possess a strong sense of perseverance.
You will also need to bring:
We offer you a work environment where you can truly make a difference in someone’s life and where no two days are the same. You’ll have a diverse range of responsibilities and plenty of freedom to shape your role. As an Assistant Regional Manager at the COA, we also offer you:
The COA places a high value on integrity and reliability. As soon as we extend a job offer to you, we will conduct a pre-employment screening. At the COA, we have been providing shelter to asylum seekers in reception centers since 1994. In our reception centers, we offer them basic services and support as they build a future in the Netherlands or elsewhere. Our organization is always evolving. Adapting to (political) realities and seizing opportunities together is in our DNA. Our core values—Dignity, Togetherness, Openness, and Results-Oriented—are embedded in our DNA. Do you see yourself reflected in these values as a person and a colleague? We value diversity and inclusion, which is why we offer equal opportunities to all our colleagues.
