The Dutch National Opera & Ballet has a recently renovated staff lounge (a 200-seat cafeteria) featuring a new food and beverage concept where hot and cold meals, salads, soups, cakes, and other items are prepared and served daily for staff and guests. In our food service concept, key pillars include preparing healthy dishes in-house, serving more vegetables than meat, speed, and affordable products.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and producing hot and cold dishes, maintaining the mise en place, plating the dishes, checking quality and presentation, and ensuring that dishes are served according to schedule. You will also share responsibility for ordering supplies from vendors and collaborate with the chef on developing new dishes. In addition, you will always ensure a tidy and clean workspace; therefore, it is important that you have knowledge of HACCP.
You have several years of experience working independently as a chef in restaurants or corporate catering. You enjoy working with fresh produce and ingredients and turning them into delicious meals. In terms of challenges, you’re looking for restaurant-level work, but at the same time, you value stability, structure, and “normal” working hours. Finally, you’re someone who enjoys a good laugh, sees the bright side of life, and can step up when needed.
The Dutch National Opera & Ballet embraces diversity and inclusion. Job openings are open to everyone. Even if you don’t fully meet the job requirements, we encourage you to apply anyway.
