Colourful People is looking for a [position] for the Gooi+ Library

Program Producer

(28–32 hours)

"The library changed me forever" – Murat Isik

Do you have plenty of ideas for creating inspiring programs in the areas of literature, society, and personal development? If so, we’re looking for you to be the new program creator at Bibliotheek Gooi+!

The library is a place where everyone can discover something new. Whether you’re looking for compelling literature, need help navigating the vastness of the internet, or want to grow by expanding your thinking skills. Or maybe you’re just looking to meet new people and gain new perspectives.

As a program coordinator at Bibliotheek Gooi+, you will create a space for these new worlds and make them accessible to the diverse community of Gooi residents. You will be responsible for developing a wide range of programs, ranging from literary readings to debates on social issues, and from personal development courses to inspirational events on topics such as sustainability.

Who are we?

"Libraries are the ideal places where people can awaken culturally and socially and come of age. They are places where people grow, learn, practice, or simply seek a moment of quiet. Places where you shape your personality, where you learn to relate to the people around you, where you expand your world. Public library members have a subscription to the whole world." – State Secretary Gunay Uslu

Gooi+ Library is more than just a home for books. As a library, we aim to broaden people’s horizons by encouraging reading, learning, and socializing. Our libraries are designed as “third places”: spaces where you can shape your life outside of work, school, and home.

We have locations in Eemnes, Bussum, Muiden, Naarden, Loosdrecht, Huizen, and Laren, as well as service points in Muiderberg and Nederhorst den Berg. With more than 70 staff members and over 250 volunteers, we are here to serve our guests. We collaborate with community partners, schools, and municipalities based on the “third place” philosophy.

What will you be doing?

As a program developer for Gooi+, you’ll be responsible for creating an engaging program featuring inspiring speakers and activities. You’ll contribute to our literary programming and to topics such as sustainability and democratization. You’ll do this for and with a variety of audiences, from high school students to seniors and everyone in between.

You will organize the activities of the Adults & Young Adults team and supervise colleagues and volunteers who assist you with the practical preparation and execution.

In addition to the library’s daily programming, you will actively work on developing new programs, for example in the area of citizenship.

What do you bring to the table?

  • A passion for literature and storytelling, and the ability to creatively transform these into an inspiring program for a wide audience.
  • A broad interest in topics such as citizenship, democratization, and sustainability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build a network, and a broad knowledge of the cultural sector.
  • Working on a project basis and helping to manage marketing communications for the programming.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work outside of regular office hours.
  • Experience with social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) is a plus.
  • A connection to the communities where Bibliotheek Gooi+ operates is a plus.
  • Gooi+ Library strives to build a diverse team in terms of gender, age, cultural background, and specific expertise. We give preference to candidates who will help strengthen this diversity within our team.

Why choose us?

  • Work as part of an enthusiastic team within a dynamic organization where passionate employees collaborate to achieve significant social goals.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • Terms of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Public Libraries.
  • The position is for 28–32 hours per week (negotiable).
  • The position is classified in pay grade 8 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Public Libraries (between €3,042 and €3,863 based on a gross full-time salary).
  • A year-end bonus of 4.0%.
  • This is a temporary one-year position, with the possibility of extension.
  • Free library membership during your employment.
