The Popwaarts Foundation in Nijmegen is seeking members for its Board of Supervisors. This is a volunteer position. The board meets in person at least three times a year.
The Popwaarts Foundation is a BIS institution that serves as the driving force behind the traveling showcase festival Popronde, which provides emerging Dutch talent across the entire spectrum of pop music with a platform to present themselves to audiences, the press, and industry professionals. In doing so, the festival supports talent by sharing knowledge, facilitating connections, providing publicity, and offering the opportunity to gain stage experience in more than 40 cities.
Since the founding of the Popwaarts Foundation in 1994, Popronde has grown into the most important national platform for the development of live pop music. Participants in the annual event, at an early stage in their careers, have included Kensington, Chef’Special, Jeangu Macrooy, Typhoon, De Staat, Froukje, MEAU, Racoon, and countless others. In addition to Popronde, Popwaarts organizes various other activities to support pop talent.
The Popwaarts Foundation is governed by a two-member board. The organization consists of approximately 75 employees and freelancers. The Popwaarts Foundation is included in the Cultural Basic Infrastructure 2025–2028. The Supervisory Board oversees the board’s policies and the general and financial affairs of the organization. In addition, the Supervisory Board serves as a sounding board for the board.
Due to the expiration of members’ terms of office and the conclusion of their careers, we are seeking two new members.
Terms and Rotation Schedule: The term of office is four years, with the option to serve a second four-year term. We meet three to four times a year (and more often if necessary), enjoying light refreshments.
The current members of the Supervisory Board are Niels Duffhues, Rik Bleize, Li Sang Ong, and Caroline de Greef. The current board consists of Mischa van den Ouweland (artistic director) and Bas Broeder (executive director).
