The Amstelland Education Group consists of thirteen special education schools in Amstelveen and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. The foundation bases its actions and the education provided in its schools on Christian (Roman Catholic and Protestant) principles and values. Each school has its own distinct character, but all operate based on the same core values: trust, connection, and passion. The Amstelland Education Group’s mission rests on three pillars: internationalization, sustainability, and contemporary learning.
At the Amstelland Education Group, children are encouraged to develop into curious, open-minded global citizens. Equal opportunity is the guiding principle in this regard. The curriculum strikes a balance between personal development, socialization, and knowledge, with the core objectives serving as a solid foundation, allowing the education group to address diverse educational needs. In this way, the Foundation aims to challenge children to their fullest potential and foster a love of learning.
The Foundation has an Executive Board and a Supervisory Board consisting of five members. The Amstelland Education Group is a member of the PO Council and operates in accordance with the Code of Good Governance in Primary Education. The education group adheres to the basic principles established regarding the professionalism of administrators, supervisors, and managers in primary education. In 2021, a new director was appointed and the composition of the Supervisory Board was changed. At the end of 2021, the Supervisory Board (RvT) decided to work with three committees: the Remuneration Committee, the Audit Committee, and the Education & Quality Committee.
The current Board of Trustees places great importance on ensuring that its membership is as broad and diverse as possible, including in terms of gender, age, cultural background, and specific areas of expertise. Given the international environment in which the Amstelland Education Group provides its educational services and the current composition of the board, candidates with an immigrant background are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Board of Trustees meets five to six times a year, and twice a year the board consults with the Joint Participation Council (GMR). Some of the meetings are held online. In addition, there are meetings related to self-evaluation, and thematic meetings are organized with the school principals. On average, six schools are visited each year.
The new member will serve on the (Education) Committee and will attend 3 to 4 separate meetings per year for this purpose. In principle, the Education Committee consists of two members of the Board of Trustees who possess the necessary educational expertise. The Education Committee elects a chairperson from among its members. Members of the Board of Trustees serve a four-year term, which may be renewed once.
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
