The LOC Foundation is a network of people involved in healthcare and social services. We want everyone to be able to lead a fulfilling life, even when they need care. This is reflected in our vision,“Meaningful Care.”
The LOC Waardevolle zorg Foundation is a network organization of people involved in healthcare and social services. We want everyone to be able to lead a meaningful life, even when they need care. This is articulated in various “Waardevolle zorg” vision documentsand in the “LOC Long-Term Perspective 2021–2025.”
LOC has now become the gateway to various platforms and the point of contact for organizations in the healthcare sector and for policymakers. We discuss emerging trends and work to advance the vision of value-based care, thereby contributing to policy development.
Since 1978, we have been supporting client councils with a wide range of services: courses, a help desk, a magazine, a weekly newsletter, brochures, and advisory visits. In addition, we launch and support all kinds of initiatives aimed at improving healthcare. These include radical reform movements in nursing home care, healthcare education, long-term mental health care, and youth care.
LOC has a small, expert staff based in Utrecht and a large network of consultants and volunteers. The organization is led by two coordinators.
Every person has value. To themselves, their loved ones, and to society. Whether they are a child, a young person, or an adult. Even if they need support or care. They may be vulnerable, but within their capabilities, they remain responsible for their own lives. How much responsibility a person can bear varies from person to person and by age. With the right support, they can lead a life that suits them. A life that has meaning. In which they can make their dreams come true.
People themselves, their loved ones, and their caregivers feel empowered and take the lead in working together to find appropriate solutions, recognizing that every person is different. Rules and systems are helpful in this process, and having a say is essential.
LOC Waardevolle zorg has a four-member Supervisory Board. Due to the expiration of one member’s term, there is a vacancy for a new member. The new member will work alongside the three current members, including the chair.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing how the foundation’s two coordinators adhere to its mission, develop its strategy and policies, and manage its operational structure. The Board of Trustees serves as a sounding board and sparring partner for the coordinators and acts as their commissioning body. The nature and scope of the organization mean that the Board of Trustees is expected to demonstrate a high level of expertise, commitment, and dedication.
The Supervisory Board generally meets five times a year (in Utrecht). In addition, members of the Supervisory Board occasionally attend meetings of client councils, staff, or volunteers. Membership on the Supervisory Board is compensated with a modest stipend.
