More about this organization
The futuristic white Eye Film Museum building on the waterfront in Amsterdam, with its distinctive angular architecture.

Eye Filmmuseum is led by an executive director, who is appointed by the Supervisory Board. This Board consists of at least five and preferably seven members. Eye is a collaborative organization that celebrates the past, present, and future of film and presents films in context. Its unique film heritage collection forms the foundation and serves as a “living archive” open to the public. The Supervisory Board oversees the policy and performance of the executive director and the achievement of the museum’s objectives. In addition, the Board acts as the executive director’s employer and serves as a substantive and strategic sounding board.

The board is seeking a filmmaker with experience in a supervisory role and a keen interest in culture in general, and in film and the audiovisual arts in particular. The Supervisory Board is preferably looking for a candidate who can bring new networks to the table and strengthen the diversity of perspectives within the board.

As a member of the Supervisory Board:

  • you have a relevant network in the world of film, art, and culture;
  • Do you have experience in the cultural sector, do you understand the dynamics of the film industry, and are you familiar with the current trends among filmmakers?
  • Do you have administrative experience, preferably in the cultural sector?
  • You bring a strong substantive and artistic perspective to the table, with an eye for new forms of storytelling;
  • you keep an open mind and ear for social, artistic, and cultural developments related to the museum sector and the film industry;
  • You place a high value on diversity of ideas and actively contribute to discussions in an inclusive setting within the Supervisory Board.

Eye is an open, informal organization, rooted in the dynamic neighborhood of Amsterdam-Noord and located at two sites: the iconic museum building on the IJ, which features a popular restaurant, and the Collection Center, where part of the heritage collection is preserved and restored and where visitors can view Eye’s collection. Eye aims to be an attractive and accessible place for everyone, regardless of race, religious background, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability. The museum invites anyone who wishes to contribute to this mission to get in touch.

We offer

The role of member of the Supervisory Board at Eye Filmmuseum is an inspiring and responsible position within a leading international institution dedicated to film and the art of the moving image in the broadest sense of the term. A modest stipend is available.
