The organization

The library plays an essential role in society as a place for knowledge, connection, and personal growth. De Groene Venen Library is an accessible, inspiring environment where reading, learning, and experiencing come together. It places a strong emphasis on current social issues and on the development and inclusion of diverse groups within the local community. The library has multiple branches and dBOS locations (the Library at School) in the municipalities of Zuidplas, Waddinxveen, and Bodegraven-Reeuwijk.

The Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board consists of five members and oversees all aspects of the foundation’s policy and general operations. The board also serves as a critical sounding board for the executive director. The Supervisory Board meets six to eight times a year. Membership is unpaid. We value diversity in background, experience, and perspective.

Your role as a member of the Supervisory Board:

  • Do you evaluate the organization’s strategy, policy plans, and major investment decisions?
  • Ensure good governance, financial sustainability, and social impact
  • Do you monitor compliance with the Cultural Governance Code?
  • You serve as an independent, constructive sounding board for the CEO
  • Do you maintain a balance between social aspirations and business realism?
  • You will serve as an ambassador for the library and its broader social significance in the region.

We are looking for someone with:

  • a clear strategic vision and experience with oversight, governance, or administrative-strategic issues;
  • an appreciation for the social and public role of the library in modern society;
  • knowledge of and/or experience with public services;
  • analytical skills at the college or university level;
  • an understanding of social, administrative, and political dynamics in a local and regional context.

If you recognize yourself in the qualifications listed in the profile, please apply! Given the current composition of the Supervisory Board, we prefer a candidate with expertise or an affinity for HR issues, organizational matters, and governance. We consider residency within the service area of De Groene Venen Library to be an asset.

What do we offer?

  • A socially significant supervisory role within an organization that has a significant local impact.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the future of a modern library from a strategic perspective.
  • Collaboration within a dedicated and professional supervisory team.

The application deadline is June 10, 2026. Please send your cover letter and resume to bedrijfsbureau@bibliotheekdegroenevenen.nl.

If you have any questions, please contact Kirsten Morstedt at kmorstedt@bibliotheekdegroenevenen.nl or 06 17 43 07 52.

The interviews will take place on June 19 (first round) and June 24, 2026 (second round).
