Cultuurhuis Lindenberg is much more than just a venue for art and culture. We are an indispensable player in the city of Nijmegen, where creativity, participation, and personal development come together. From our location in the city center and in the neighborhoods, we are shaping a broad social mission: making culture accessible to everyone. For young and old, for those who can participate naturally, and for those who need a little help getting started.
De Lindenberg is at a pivotal point in its development. We are growing rapidly, our social relevance is increasing, and we are building new bridges to sectors such as healthcare, social services, education, and housing. Our organization is undergoing internal development focused on agility, clear responsibilities, and future-proofing. In addition, we are preparing for an exciting journey toward a new shared facility: an innovative culture, education, and participation center where multiple institutions will join forces.
At the same time, the world around us calls for a different way of thinking and acting. Developments at the grassroots level—such as rising loneliness, an overburdened healthcare system, and growing social inequality—require systemic change. This means transcending traditional boundaries, breaking down silos, and seeking sustainable solutions based on shared responsibility. Culture, well-being, education, and healthcare can no longer operate in isolation from one another. It is precisely in collaboration that the key lies.
In this context, we are seeking a new member for our Board of Trustees: a strategic thinker who understands these social dynamics and can provide direction through vision and connection. Someone who will help De Lindenberg stay on course in a changing landscape and who wants to work with us to build a cultural center that is at the heart of the community.
You are someone who:
Experience as a regulator is welcome, but not required. We do expect you to be able to think strategically and to understand your responsibilities as a regulator. A different perspective—for example, from the social, creative, or innovative sectors—is valued. We welcome diversity in background, networks, and experience.
The Supervisory Board of De Lindenberg consists of five members and works in close collaboration with the Executive Director. We combine a critical eye with flexibility, and we are attentive to both one another and the organization. We see it as our responsibility to monitor and support De Lindenberg’s social mission. The open, relaxed atmosphere within the board contributes to effective collaboration and reflection.
Due to the resignation of one of the members, we are specifically looking for someone who can strengthen the board in the areas of strategic thinking and community engagement. Membership on the compensation committee is a possibility.
