The Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board is the body that, in line with recent developments in corporate governance, oversees and acts as the employer of the CEO. It also reviews decision-making and provides both solicited and unsolicited advice to the CEO. It serves as a sounding board for the CEO and, where required by the articles of incorporation or bylaws, approves decisions. The Board serves as an ambassador both internally and externally, acting as an advocate and being accountable to the outside world. Currently, the Board consists of five members.
Availability:
The Supervisory Board meets 5–6 times a year. There are one or more working visits and/or meetings each year. In addition, there are two committees: the Compensation Committee and the Audit Committee. An allowance is available, equal to the maximum volunteer allowance.
The Valkhof Museum
Museum Het Valkhof connects themes from the classical world with the near future—and vice versa. Major, universal themes with particular relevance to our own surroundings and local community serve as the starting point. In this way, the museum consistently tells a story that transcends the local and appeals to people from all over the world: “globally relevant and locally significant.” Museum Het Valkhof is a museum of art and history that takes pride in its collections and its roots in Gelderland. It is precisely the combination of archaeology, ancient, and contemporary art that makes us unique. An enthusiastic team of approximately 40 permanent staff members and 100 volunteers and freelancers creates an engaging program for all generations each year. We do this in an iconic building, designed by Ben van Berkel, right in the historic heart of Nijmegen. The nearby Museum Kam serves as our information and research center for Gelderland archaeology. Here, the museum manages the provincial repository for archaeological finds. Museum Het Valkhof is undergoing a transformation and shifting its focus. In the coming years, its buildings will undergo extensive renovations. Public spaces and facilities, such as the gift shop and café, will function more effectively, and a visible connection to the city center will be established.
Mission
The Valkhof Museum aims to help visitors experience what has defined humanity for centuries. We do this by offering contemporary perspectives on universal aspects of our existence: our motivations, doubts, emotions, and talents.
