Farent is a social work organization where 250 staff members work alongside 1,000 volunteers to provide freely accessible basic support in the communities where people live, work, and socialize in the ’s-Hertogenbosch region, De Meierij, and Midden-Brabant.

Support is provided for key issues in the daily lives of the region’s residents:

Challenges for the Coming Period
Farent’s strategic plan outlines the organization’s direction. To address current societal issues, Farent collaborates with partner organizations. The challenges Farent faces in the coming period are:

  • Forming strategic alliances to further advance Farent’s goal of providing citizens with the best possible support
  • Implementing and further developing the innovation agenda to better anticipate clients' needs.
  • Further professionalizing the organization while ensuring employee engagement (and retention) and aligning it with today’s demands.


's Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees consists of five members. Appointments are made in accordance with the articles of incorporation.
The Board of Trustees' primary responsibility is to oversee the organization's policy and management.
In doing so, the Board of Trustees has four roles:

  • responsible for “overseeing the management and general operations” of the organization
  • an advisory and supportive role toward the director;
  • the driver's employer;
  • ambassador for the organization.

The Supervisory Board has two committees: the Compensation Committee and the Audit Committee.

) The members of the Supervisory Board possess the following competencies and skills to successfully fulfill their supervisory role.

  • general administrative skills and experience;
  • an affinity for social work and an understanding of the complexities of the social sector;
  • the right balance between involvement and administrative distance (role clarity)
  • the ability and willingness to advise the board and serve as a sounding board;
  • the ability to evaluate Farent’s policies and the performance of the board;
  • the ability to provide guidance and oversight as part of a team;
  • integrity, a sense of responsibility, and an independent mindset;
  • the ability to form a general assessment of matters presented by the board (big-picture view);
  • socially engaged;
  • sufficient availability.

Personal Profile: Supervisory Board Member with a Legal Background
As of June 2022, a position will become available for a Supervisory Board member with a legal background. In addition to the general competencies listed above, we are seeking candidates for this position who have a legal background and an affinity for the social sector.
With a business-minded perspective and a constructively critical attitude, you seek to foster connections within the Board of Trustees.
You also have a (political) network that you can leverage and are driven in stakeholder management. With your helicopter view, you have an overview of the various roles and know how to effectively monitor them. You are someone who is energized by innovation and may have gained experience with innovation processes. Furthermore, you are proactive, energetic, and a connector.
With your legal background, you serve as a key resource for the CEO and other members of the Supervisory Board. You possess knowledge of risk management and compliance.
In addition, you are a true team player and strive for effective collaboration within the team. With your ability to build connections, you are able to engage in dialogue at various levels. Supervisory experience is not a requirement if you possess the right competencies. Candidates with a bicultural background are expressly encouraged to apply.

Compensation and availability: This position is compensated with an annual stipend. The Supervisory Board meets 5 to 6 times a year. In addition, there will be a number of other meetings and/or activities at which attendance is required.
