Vice Chair and Members for KBMH

The Complaints and Appeals Committee for Vocational and Higher Education (KBMH) is an independent committee established by Onderwijsgeschillen on behalf of its member vocational and higher education institutions. The Committee handles both complaints regarding specific conduct or actions and appeals from students or staff regarding decisions made by the educational institution.

Your role

As of September 1, 2026, the Commission has openings for a vice chair and two members. These are part-time positions that require an average of one day per month.

As (vice)chair, you will oversee the handling of complaints and objections and, together with the committee members, ensure that the committee’s recommendations are clear, understandable, and accessible.In addition, you will coordinate with the other chairs, members, and the secretariat regarding the quality of the committee’s recommendations.

What do you bring to the table?

All committee members must meet the following profile requirements:

• The committee member acts impartially and independently.
• The committee member helps ensure that the realities of vocational and higher education are represented.
• The committee member possesses the expertise and analytical skills necessary to evaluate a case before the Committee. The Committee must be able to render a balanced judgment on all aspects of the dispute that arise in a case, and members are expected to demonstrate expertise regarding the substance and context of the dispute.

Additional profile requirements for a (vice) chairperson

• A (vice)chairperson possesses the knowledge and skills of a lawyer, equivalent to a master’s degree in Dutch law;
• A chair or vice-chair is capable of presiding over the hearing and reaching a lawful decision together with the committee members.
