We believe the world can be a fairer, greener, and kinder place. That’s why, for decades, we’ve been producing shows like *Keuringsdienst van waarde*, *BinnensteBuiten*, and *Boer zoekt vrouw*. These shows change the way you see things—and give you a helping hand in changing the way you act.
The KRO-NCRV Mediapool connects ambitious, creative, and independent-minded (aspiring) program makers with the editors-in-chief of our editorial teams. As a socially responsible media organization, we believe it is important to bring together as many perspectives, backgrounds, and personalities as possible at our editorial tables.
What can you expect over the next 12 months?
Professional guidance, a variety of workshops, masterclasses led by experts, and the opportunity to build a strong professional network within a year. And perhaps most importantly: we reward creativity. Bring us your ideas and pitches—we can learn from you, too.
Over the course of 12 months, you will work at three different editorial offices.
Period 1 (4 months)
We will discuss your choice of first editorial position during the application process. Which programs would you like to work on? Please mention this in your application.
Period 2 (4 months)
During the second term, you’ll step outside your comfort zone. For example, are you a real news junkie? If so, you’ll be working in our Youth Department during these months. Are you a natural writer? If so, we’ll place you in the Audio Department for these four months. This way, we hope to help you become an all-around media professional. Of course, this decision will always be made in close consultation with you.
Period 3 (4 months)
You’re nearing the end of the process, so it’s important to make the most of it. We won’t fill in the last editorial position in advance; we’ll discuss that during phase two.
What qualities do you bring to the table as a Mediapooler?
First and foremost, you are creative. You are able to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions. Creativity also allows you to generate new ideas, offer original insights, and provide unique perspectives.
You are committed to the editorial team you are part of and to the organization as a whole. You are interested in and dedicated to your work, are a full member of the team, and actively contribute to the team. This fosters collaboration and shapes your growth within the organization.
Another important quality is perseverance. You don’t give up when faced with setbacks or obstacles. You are determined and have the resilience to tackle challenging situations in order to achieve your goals, even when things get tough.
You are someone with an open-minded outlook. You identify with KRO-NCRV’s core values: you are open-minded and willing to embrace different perspectives and ideas. After all, open-mindedness fosters an inclusive and innovative work environment—something we stand for at KRO-NCRV.
Finally, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and take the initiative to identify and capitalize on new opportunities. You’re not afraid to take risks and explore new paths.
You are motivated to achieve results and drive positive change within the organization.
You can submit your cover letter and resume by May 17 using the application form at the bottom of this page.
Selection
After the application deadline, the selection committee will begin reviewing the applications.
Introductory Meeting
If you are selected, you will be notified by the end of May. You will then receive an invitation to an introductory interview on June 3, 4, or 7.
Job interview
Still a good fit after the introductory interview? If so, we’ll schedule an interview with the editor-in-chief or supervisor for the first phase. Of course, you’ll need to prepare thoroughly for this interview, and we’ll send you some preparatory assignments if necessary. This interview will take place during the week of June 10. Got the green light after the interview? Congratulations!
Then you're our next Mediapooler!
Discussion of Terms of Employment
After that, there will be one more meeting with HR to go over all the contractual details with you.
We are offering a 36-hour-per-week employment contract for a period of 12 months. The start date is negotiable and will be in September or October.
As a trainee at KRO-NCRV, you will receive a gross monthly salary of €2,500, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Broadcasting Personnel (Scale E).
