More person, less patient. That is what the Dutch Patient Federation stands for. Together with our members, we advocate for people who need care, now and in the future. So that people can choose and receive the care that best suits them. We develop policies and influence those of other organizations and decision-makers. We ask how people experience healthcare. And based on that, we make their voices heard in doctors’ offices, in politics, and in the news. You contribute directly to that.
The Dutch Patient Federation represents more than 200 patient organizations. Approximately 75 people work at our office in Utrecht.
We have an opening as of September 2023 for a Healthcare Policy/Projects Trainee (32–36 hours per week)
Are you interested in healthcare developments and policy from a patient’s perspective? Would you like to gain experience at an active, national healthcare advocacy organization? Then this traineeship is for you!
As a trainee, you will develop your knowledge and skills in the area of policy advocacy within the healthcare sector. You will do this by proactively contributing to a number of projects and policy development initiatives.
You will begin your traineeship in our Products & Services team. You will be part of the ZorgkaartNederland team, but you will also have the opportunity to contribute to work related to other products and services. You will support the project/product manager or other project staff members within the project. You will be assigned specific tasks, help steer the project toward its goals, and report on progress. You will work both independently and as part of a team.
At ZorgkaartNederland, you will also help evaluate incoming reviews, investigate improper use, and participate in studies conducted by the Patient Federation. In addition, you will assist in carrying out activities related to the Patient Federation’s initiatives, particularly ZorgkaartNederland.
After your training period at Products & Services, you will be assigned to work across teams with our other policy teams. Each of these policy teams focuses on a different aspect of healthcare: specialist medical care, digital healthcare, or primary and long-term care. In some cases, you may continue to perform some of the duties from your traineeship for an extended period to optimize your learning process and maintain continuity in your work.
We offer a diverse traineeship at a dynamic organization with dedicated people. An organization where you can further develop your skills in substantive, strategic, and political areas, and where you can build a strong network in the healthcare sector.
Generally, your traineeship with us lasts three years. You’ll start with a one-year contract. If everything goes well for both you and us, we’ll extend it for another two years. After those three years, we’ll part ways, unless you’re a good fit for a position that’s open at that time.
You will be assigned a mentor. Together with the other members of your team, they will provide you with guidance. You can take advantage of our regular education and training opportunities. You’ll also have the chance to exchange experiences with other trainees and work together to shape your learning process.
We offer flexible working hours. So this isn’t a job where you necessarily have to work strictly “9 to 5.” With us, you can work in a hybrid model (partly from home, partly at our office in Utrecht). However, if you prefer, you can also work entirely at our office.
The starting salary is €3,069.00 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek (Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement, Scale 9). If you have already gained relevant experience in other traineeships or positions, your starting salary may be higher.
The Dutch Patient Federation offers attractive employment benefits, including an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) and a career budget. The IKB provides you with a budget that you can use at your discretion to receive as cash or to purchase additional leave hours.
The Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement is followed. Under the terms of the agreement, you are enrolled in the Healthcare and Social Services Pension Fund.
Please submit a cover letter and resume to Debbie Duijst, HR Advisor, by July 5, 2023, using the application form. The first round of interviews will take place on Monday, July 10, 2023, and the second round on Monday, July 17, 2023.
