Are you an experienced, people-oriented team leader who thrives on building a strong team, setting priorities, and improving processes? Then we’re looking for you! We’re seeking a new colleague for the position of Erasmus+ Program Advisor Team Leader, working 32 hours per week.
Where will I be working?
As the National Agency (NA) in the Netherlands, we are responsible for implementing four European Union initiatives:
- Erasmus+ Youth Grant Program.
- Erasmus+ Sport Grant Program.
- Grant Program for the European Solidarity Corps.
- GO Europe Youth Information Network (Eurodesk Netherlands).
Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps are grant programs that give young people and youth workers the opportunity to grow through a unique (international) experience and to do good for others. Erasmus+ Sport aims to expand the knowledge of community sports organizations. GO Europe is part of the independent European network Eurodesk, which informs young people about the opportunities Europe offers them to gain (inter)national experience.
The National Agency, which has about 30 staff members, is housed within the Netherlands Youth Institute Foundation and is responsible for awarding and monitoring the grant funds available to the Netherlands under these programs.
The Program Advisors team consists of approximately 15 senior and mid-level professionals. Together, they advise organizations, evaluate grant applications, and monitor ongoing projects. Each of our senior advisors is responsible for a specific grant program; together with the mid-level advisors, they ensure that these programs are implemented effectively.
We work with tight deadlines and a dynamic workload. At the same time, there are also development challenges on the horizon for the coming years. First and foremost, over the past year we have begun increasing the program’s relevance and impact by reaching new target groups and providing them with better support. In addition, a new funding period (2028–2034) will begin in 2028, which, as always, brings changes and opportunities. In short: a team and organization on the move.
What you will be doing
As the team leader for program advisors, you’ll play a key role in a position that is being completely restructured. You’ll be responsible for managing and developing the team, with a focus on ensuring the grant process is carried out carefully and on time. Through your coaching and collaborative leadership style, you’ll help colleagues get the most out of our programs—both individually and as a team. In addition, you’ll face an exciting challenge: making our processes smarter, more consistent, and better aligned. You’ll bring structure, create clarity, and ensure that individual and team processes align seamlessly.
With your dedication, you will:
- managing the Program Advisors team, including all related HRM tasks;
- senior program advisors in translating the mission, vision, and long-term strategy into concrete strategies for the individual grant programs;
- discuss annual plans with the senior program advisors and monitor progress throughout the year (total annual grant budget of approximately 15 million);
- organize, optimize, and coordinate the sub-processes that form part of the support, evaluation, and monitoring processes, taking into account the National Agency’s overall strategy and an appropriate workload;
- support the team with your project management skills and foster collaboration, ownership, and a results-oriented mindset;
- contribute to management reports and provide input for the (multi-)year plan and annual report to the European Commission;
- contribute ideas on the direction of the National Agency;
- ensure that collaboration with other teams runs smoothly and aligns well with the various processes and schedules.
