The Maastricht Institute of Arts is the leading arts education institution in the southern Netherlands and beyond, and is part of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. Bachelor's degrees in Communication and Multimedia Design, Design, Architecture, and Interior Design; Design; Design; Visual Communication; Fine Art and Design in Education; Fine Arts; and Interdisciplinary Arts.

Student well-being, self-directed learning, and social safety are essential for academic success in an open learning environment. To this end, we are strengthening the support system and the role of the student advisor, and developing a support system that focuses on well-being, social safety, academic progress, and career prospects.

The Fine Art and Design in Education program is seeking a:
Student Advisor (0.2 FTE) for the current academic year

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring students: students in grades 1 through 4;
  • Facilitating group meetings regarding academic progress, well-being, and career prospects;
  • Guiding students regarding their academic pathways;
  • Guiding students on alternative academic paths;
  • Consultation with and referral to the dean and student psychologist;
  • Further development of the healthcare structure.

We expect you to:

  • Have comprehensive knowledge of and/or an affinity for programs in the arts;
  • Have experience and relevant training in student counseling and coaching;
  • Can handle peak times;
  • Works with a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Terms of Employment

  • We are offering a 0.2 FTE position, initially for a period of one year.
  • We offer a salary based on education and experience, up to scale 9 of the CAO-HBO (maximum €3,998.91 gross per month for a full-time position).
  • For internal candidates with a permanent employment contract, the previously agreed-upon term of employment will be honored.
