More about this organization
The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, with its distinctive red-brick facade and classical architecture, as seen from Museumplein.

As a Fund Relations Manager at the Concertgebouw, you’ll work at one of the world’s most beautiful concert halls, a place where there’s something new to experience every day. Drawing on your expertise in fundraising, you’ll be part of a close-knit team dedicated to securing and retaining funds. In doing so, you’ll make a direct contribution to the Concertgebouw’s financial foundation as well as to the realization of the projects it organizes.

You will be working at the Concertgebouw Fund (HCF). This is an independent foundation that serves as the support foundation for the Concertgebouw (etc.), and is responsible for fundraising and relationship management with individual donors, funds, and foundations. Fundraising efforts focus on education, renovation, accessibility, and special programming.

Who are you?

You are an excellent planner and organizer and hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You have several years of work experience, preferably in the cultural sector. You have an affinity for the Concertgebouw and knowledge of (classical) music. You are capable of independently raising and retaining funds for projects, and through effective reporting to the founders of Named Funds, you ensure that the relationship with these benefactors is maintained and strengthened.

In addition:

  • Do you have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in Dutch and English?
  • Do you have strong numerical skills and are you detail-oriented?
  • You know how to actively and intensively manage personal relationships with institutional funds and private donors relevant to HCF who establish or maintain a Named Fund, and you organize meetings for these contacts to discuss progress.
  • When things get busy, can you keep a clear overview and set priorities?
  • Can you work independently and are you flexible?
  • Are you someone who enjoys contributing to the common goal by working closely with others and respecting each other’s differences?
  • Are you creative and presentable?

No two people are alike! The Concertgebouw strives to be an organization where everyone feels welcome and safe—where employees can be themselves and are given the freedom and recognition they need to contribute to our mission in their own way:

The Concertgebouw brings together a diverse audience and enriches their lives with a sublime musical experience

That’s why we’re curious to find out who you are!

What will you be doing?

As a Fund Relationship Manager, you are responsible for raising and retaining funds for projects. You proactively maintain contact with existing institutional donors and Circle members who have established a Named Fund, and you are able to build and strengthen relationships with institutional donors.

Other tasks include:

  • You will analyze options for applying to external funding sources and proactively align them with the needs and ambitions of the Concertgebouw.
  • You will handle correspondence (in Dutch and English) related to fundraising efforts to secure additional resources for project implementation.
  • You will take the initiative in drafting grant proposals for education, renovation, and special programming, and you will prepare the reports—covering artistic content and financial matters—for institutional funds and named funds.
  • You track, record, and disburse contributions from funds, report on them, and monitor the internal progress of the projects that these funds help finance.
  • You ensure that the requirements set by grant providers are met and communicated.
  • You will attend various receptions and concerts, and you are willing to attend them in the evenings and on weekends.

What do we offer?

  • A salary, in accordance with the Concertgebouw’s compensation system, ranging from a maximum of €3,055 gross to €4,062 gross per month for a full-time, 38-hour workweek.
  • A pension plan.
  • 25 days of vacation per year for full-time employees.
  • A dynamic, informal work environment.
  • The opportunity to put your creativity and passion to good use.
  • An interesting job where you'll become part of an experienced, professional, and friendly team.
  • A bicycle plan for up to €749, including VAT.
  • The opportunity to take yoga classes or join our running team.
  • Free ticket program for employees.
