Do you have experience leading community projects? For our UP! programs focused on aging well, we are looking for a freelance project manager for migrant seniors in Utrecht and Amsterdam.
UP! encourages older adults to share stories that touch them deeply. In doing so, they get to know themselves and others better, and that is our approach to reducing or combating loneliness. We do this through group discussions held throughout the country and the Laatbloeiers festival, which takes place in Utrecht. You can find more information about UP! on our website.
UP! brings older adults—whether or not they have an immigrant background—together in conversation to foster connection and openness. Topics include regret, friendship, and feeling at home. Each group discussion is led by a (volunteer) facilitator who has been trained by UP! in the program’s methodology.
The topics of the group discussions with older migrants touch on their lives: what is it like to grow older in the Netherlands? What do you talk about—and what do you avoid? How do you deal with feelings of homesickness or regret? How do you stay in touch with one another? These discussions, conducted in the participants’ own languages, have been taking place for years in Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Rotterdam, and Alphen aan den Rijn. We are looking for a proactive project leader who will initially be responsible for further rolling out the discussions in Utrecht.
You will oversee existing projects and seek out new partners to establish and sustain group discussions. This includes recruiting, training, and mentoring discussion leaders; developing schedules and budgets; and conducting post-event evaluations and reporting. You will be the primary point of contact for our partners, such as self-help organizations, healthcare and social service agencies, municipalities, libraries, foundations, and the business community.
We offer you:
A close-knit, ambitious, and friendly team of freelancers!
