Do you have experience leading community projects? For our UP! programs focused on aging well, we are looking for a freelance project manager for migrant seniors in Utrecht and Amsterdam.

About UP!

UP! encourages older adults to share stories that touch them deeply. In doing so, they get to know themselves and others better, and that is our approach to reducing or combating loneliness. We do this through group discussions held throughout the country and the Laatbloeiers festival, which takes place in Utrecht. You can find more information about UP! on our website.

UP! group chats

UP! brings older adults—whether or not they have an immigrant background—together in conversation to foster connection and openness. Topics include regret, friendship, and feeling at home. Each group discussion is led by a (volunteer) facilitator who has been trained by UP! in the program’s methodology.

Elderly migrants

The topics of the group discussions with older migrants touch on their lives: what is it like to grow older in the Netherlands? What do you talk about—and what do you avoid? How do you deal with feelings of homesickness or regret? How do you stay in touch with one another? These discussions, conducted in the participants’ own languages, have been taking place for years in Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Rotterdam, and Alphen aan den Rijn. We are looking for a proactive project leader who will initially be responsible for further rolling out the discussions in Utrecht.

What will you be doing?

You will oversee existing projects and seek out new partners to establish and sustain group discussions. This includes recruiting, training, and mentoring discussion leaders; developing schedules and budgets; and conducting post-event evaluations and reporting. You will be the primary point of contact for our partners, such as self-help organizations, healthcare and social service agencies, municipalities, libraries, foundations, and the business community.

Your profile:

  • You are proactive, enthusiastic, and enterprising;
  • You enjoy keeping track of project schedules and budgets;
  • You understand the experiences of older adults, whether or not they have an immigrant background, and have demonstrable experience in this area;
  • You can adapt quickly, are flexible, and see opportunities;
  • You’re a good fit for an innovative and independent way of thinking and working;
  • You have a strong network of organizations that work with and for elderly migrants from diverse cultural backgrounds.

We offer you:

  • Flexible working hours that you can set yourself, with one regular team meeting in the
  • week;
  • A position requiring at least two to three days a week with a tangible social impact
  • impact and plenty of room for initiative;
  • A salary that is in line with industry standards and the ambitions of our growing organization;
  • An office in the heart of Amsterdam and the option to work from home;

A close-knit, ambitious, and friendly team of freelancers!
