Do you want to work on a meaningful mission that makes a difference in society? Do you enjoy working in an organized manner and bringing clarity to processes? Are you skilled at reading formal texts in Dutch and English? Are you looking for a job that offers responsibility and creativity within an informal team of friendly and motivated colleagues? And have you always wanted to work in the heart of Amsterdam?

Then you might just be the Project Assistant we're looking for!

What will you be doing?

  • You will manage the contract registry for our project financing;
  • Before, during, and upon completion of projects, you ensure that contract files are complete and up to date;
  • You will assist the project managers and the management team in drafting (collaboration) agreements;
  • You will assist the project managers in preparing project reports, conducting project audits, compiling financial statements, and monitoring payments;
  • You will ensure that the contracts are accurately entered into our administrative systems.

We are looking for:

  • You have a work and thinking level equivalent to an MBO+ or HBO degree;
  • Experience in a similar role (administrative/legal) or the determination to learn this on the job;
  • You are detail-oriented, work independently and in an organized manner, and ask questions when you get stuck;
  • You notice details that others overlook and ensure that all the necessary documentation is in order;
  • You enjoy navigating (sometimes lengthy) contracts and grant terms and conditions (in both Dutch and English) and have a knack for clear agreements and meaningful figures;
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English;
  • You are interested in Waag Futurelab's mission.

What do we offer?

  • A friendly team in an organization that offers plenty of room for initiative and creativity, a group lunch (if you’d like), and the flexibility to set your own daily and weekly schedule;
  • Opportunities for your professional development in the form of an annual training budget;
  • Waag offers a casual work environment and a good pension plan;
  • Waag has two stunning workspaces in the heart of Amsterdam: Huis De Pinto and the Waag
  • The salary range for this position is €3,072 to €3,720 per month (UFO scale 8-0 through 8-5), depending on knowledge and experience, based on a 40-hour workweek.

About Waag Futurelab

For nearly 30 years, Waag Futurelab has been researching how technology can be used to drive social innovation. Well-known Waag projects include Fairphone, the world’s most sustainable smartphone, and De Digitale Stad, one of the very first social media platforms in the Netherlands. Or consider Operation Sigismund, one of the first educational games in the Netherlands that lets students experience how exciting an archive can be and is still played weekly at the Drents Archief.

Your future colleague Ouarda talks about working at Waag:

“The freedom the organization gives me to shape my own projects really does me a world of good. My colleagues appreciate me, I can be myself, and that makes it a great place to work.”

Waag operates as a team of designers, artists, and scientists who apply public research methods to technology and society. In doing so, Waag empowers as many people as possible to help design an open, fair, and inclusive future. We do this by collaboratively exploring emerging technologies, questioning underlying cultural assumptions, and designing alternatives based on public values. In this way, we strive to contribute to an open, fair, and inclusive future. Visitwaag.orgfor more information about Waag and the projects we are working on.

Diversity is crucial to making technology and society more open, fair, and inclusive. That is why we encourage candidates from diverse cultural backgrounds to apply. Even if you feel you don’t meet all the requirements, we still encourage you to apply. Some qualities can’t be captured in bullet points.

Deadline:August 25, 2024

If we find the right candidate sooner, we may close the position early—so don’t wait too long to apply!
