Pop Programmer
Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem is the home of the performing arts and the cultural heart of Arnhem. A concert hall and theater. With nearly 3,000 seats spread across four venues, we are a driving force for culture in Arnhem and the surrounding area. Each year, approximately 175,000 guests visit us. Over 450 concerts, performances, and events take place annually at our two locations . We offer both classical and pop music, and Musis is also the premier venue for conferences, corporate events, meetings, and product presentations. At the Stadstheater, we present theater, dance, and cabaret. The theater will close in the fall of 2023 for extensive renovations. In the coming years, we will therefore be presenting programs at Musis and other venues throughout the city.
We are looking for a
Pop programmer
for 16 hours a week
As a pop music programmer, you are responsible for the (pop) music programming in Musis’ two venues: the Parkzaal (capacity: 850 seated and 1,700 standing) and the Muzenzaal (capacity: 730 seated and 1,100 standing). The ratio of classical to (pop) music is approximately 50%. The focus is on pop, jazz, world music, and local talent across all genres and facets. Our theater and classical music programmers are responsible for the remaining programming.
What are your main duties and responsibilities?
- As a pop music programmer, you will share responsibility for the artistic profile of Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem based on your own artistic vision, and you will be responsible for developing and implementing the programming policy.
- You are responsible for the programming of pop music in all its forms and related projects.
- You will be responsible for developing our international pop music programming.
- You will serve as a link between Musis and the city of Arnhem, as well as partners in the city and region, and contribute to local and regional (cultural) initiatives.
- You work closely with agencies, booking agencies, and artist management companies, and have already built up a strong network in this field.
- You have a strong vision of the role of music in today’s society and are able to put that vision into practice in your role.
- You will support your colleagues in the Education, Hospitality, and Events departments with the cultural programming of (commercial) events and supporting activities.
- You are responsible for finalizing contracts and entering the final contract terms into our planning system.
- You will report to the director.
What are you bringing?
- Ideally, you have at least 3 years of experience as a POP programmer.
- You have knowledge of pop music in all its diversity and the evolution of pop music.
- You are open to new, groundbreaking developments.
- You have excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills and are
- skilled at conducting negotiations.
- You are a connector and deeply committed to Arnhem and the surrounding region.
