Who are we?

The West Brabant Library provides library services to eight municipalities in West Brabant (Bergen op Zoom, Halderberge, Moerdijk, Roosendaal, Rucphen, Steenbergen, Woensdrecht, and Zundert). At our community and educational library, our primary focus is on providing access to lifelong learning for everyone, at every level, in our rapidly changing society.

The Municipal Program Coordinator, together with seven program coordinators for Education (ages 0–18), Digital Literacy, and Lifelong Learning, is responsible for developing and implementing a library-wide, integrated program in the areas of reading promotion, digital literacy, basic skills, and information services. They make up a significant portion of our organization’s management team.

What will you be doing as a municipal program developer?

The public services team you lead consists of 13 information and advice staff members and 25 volunteers.

Together with your team, you will be responsible for implementing the comprehensive program at locations within your municipality.

The ongoing refinement of our logistics processes, the optimization of staffing at our locations, and the standardization of our facilities and self-service applications are key priorities for our libraries. We are committed to investing in new or improved services and, by extension, in our social value. We are looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic colleague to join our team of program developers, with a focus on public services and our online and digital services.

In addition:

  • you will be the first point of contact for public service employees in the municipality of Roosendaal;
  • you use a coaching leadership style;
  • Do you have an eye for the wide variety of target groups, members, and visitors?
  • maintain your existing communities and build new ones with customers and partners;
  • You will contribute to the preparation, planning, and implementation of our 2023 annual plan. Working closely with your colleagues, you will translate relevant market trends and innovations into cohesive programs.

What are your talents?

For this dynamic position at the college level, it goes without saying that you’re a team player, can communicate persuasively, and have a knack for organization. You’re a connector and a team player. Above all, you’re an outstanding project manager.

You have experience coaching staff and volunteers and developing policies. You are creative and flexible, and you help shape change processes. Knowledge of and an affinity for digital literacy are a plus. You are solution-oriented and have a healthy sense of perspective.

What do we offer?

  • A salary based on the collective bargaining agreement for public libraries, scale 9, ranging from a minimum of €3,293 to a maximum of €4,241, based on a 36-hour workweek;
  • The position is for at least 6 months, with the possibility of extension;
  • Travel allowance, year-end bonus, and pension plan through the POB;
  • A flat organization in the broadest sense of the word, with a strong social mission;
  • A dynamic, innovative organization where you’ll have plenty of room to contribute your own ideas and work independently;
  • An organization that empowers its employees to pursue continuous professional development;
  • Plenty of opportunities to contribute to the ongoing development of our areas of focus: Basic Skills, Digital Literacy, Reading Promotion, and Information Services.

There is a place for everyone in our organization. We offer our employees equal opportunities to further develop their talents and strive to create an open, safe, and inclusive work environment. Whatever your background, you can be yourself at Bibliotheek West-Brabant.
