Who are we?

The West Brabant Library provides library services to eight municipalities in West Brabant (Bergen op Zoom, Halderberge, Moerdijk, Roosendaal, Rucphen, Steenbergen, Woensdrecht, and Zundert). At our community and educational library, our primary focus is on providing access to lifelong learning for everyone, at every level, in our rapidly changing society.

The Program Manager for Education (Ages 0–18), together with seven other program managers—covering Municipal Affairs, Digital Literacy, and Lifelong Learning—is responsible for developing and implementing a library-wide, integrated program focused on reading promotion, digital literacy, basic skills, and information services. They make up a significant portion of our organization’s management team.

What will you be doing as a Program Developer for Education (Ages 0–18)?

The Education 0–18 team consists of 2 program developers, 20 reading and media consultants, and 2 support staff members. The education sector is your largest client.

Structural investment in reading promotion and the joy of reading is a key pillar of West Brabant Library’s policy. As a Program Developer for Education (Ages 0–18), you possess the necessary expertise in reading promotion and digital literacy; knowledge of pedagogy and didactics is a plus. You are familiar with the education sector.

You will be responsible for shaping the content development, coordination, and coherence of the continuous learning pathway for youth. You will explore and launch new markets, products, and services. Your work will be guided by the West Brabant Library’s policy plan.

You will develop annual plans and track their progress. You will focus on specific goals and outcomes, ensure quality, and monitor results. In this role, your responsibilities will include the implementation and further development of national programs such as BoekStart and the School Library Program for elementary and secondary schools.

You will lead the team of reading and media consultants and oversee their professional development, ensuring they are well-equipped to share their knowledge and expertise with our clients.

You will share responsibility for securing state and local grants that will enable us to further realize our goals.

Internally, you will liaise with the program managers for Municipalities, Digital Literacy, and Lifelong Learning, and provide advice to the management team.

In addition:

  • maintain and strengthen your strategic relationships with external parties such as the municipality, childcare providers, educational institutions, and national organizations;
  • use your internal and external knowledge to shape the ongoing development of our services;
  • Are you a results-oriented project manager and process monitor who tracks the outcomes of activities, products, and projects within the program line(s)?

What are your talents?

For this dynamic position at the college level, it goes without saying that you’re a team player, a persuasive communicator, and have a knack for organization. You’re a connector and a team player. Above all, you’re an outstanding project manager.

You have experience coaching staff and volunteers and developing policies. You are creative and flexible, and you help shape change processes. Knowledge of and an affinity for digital literacy are a plus. You are solution-oriented and have a healthy sense of perspective.

What do we offer?

  • A one-year contract with a salary based on the collective bargaining agreement for public libraries, scale 9, ranging from a minimum of €3,293 to a maximum of €4,241, based on a 36-hour workweek;
  • Travel allowance, year-end bonus, and pension plan through the POB;
  • A flat organization in the broadest sense of the word, with a strong social mission;
  • A dynamic, innovative organization where you’ll have plenty of room to contribute your own ideas and work independently;
  • An organization that empowers its employees to pursue continuous professional development;
  • Plenty of opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of our areas of focus: Basic Skills, Digital Literacy, Reading Promotion, and Information Literacy.

There is a place for everyone in our organization. We offer our employees equal opportunities to further develop their talents and strive to create an open, safe, and inclusive work environment. Whatever your background, you can be yourself at Bibliotheek West-Brabant.
