The Concertgebouw is looking for a:
Producer (F/M/X)
for 38 hours per week (full-time)
As a producer at the Concertgebouw, you’ll work at one of the world’s most beautiful concert halls, in a place where there’s something new to experience every day. You will produce the concerts in the Concertgebouw’s In-House Program and the Education and Participation projects, the content of which is developed by the Artistic Affairs & Education department.
About Het Concertgebouw
The Royal Concertgebouw is considered one of the world’s leading concert halls thanks to its unparalleled acoustics and its diverse, high-quality programming. Our mission is to connect and enrich as many people as possible through a sublime musical experience.
Our program includes classical, pop, hip-hop, jazz, children’s concerts, and film music. Each year, we host more than 900 events, attracting over 730,000 visitors. With our passionate and close-knit team, we strive to provide the very best experience for visitors, musicians, and staff.
Who are you?
- You have knowledge and experience in organizing and/or preparing concerts and/or events (preferably several years).
- You have a practical mindset, work efficiently, and are good at keeping track of the big picture.
- You can keep a cool head during busy periods, and when the situation calls for it, you’re willing to make tough decisions. You’re able to adapt to different situations.
- You have a good understanding of logistics and processes, and you take pride in doing your work with attention to detail.
- You have experience collaborating with providers of lighting, sound, projection, and streaming services.
- You enjoy working with others, both musicians and colleagues, but you’re also capable of working independently.
- You are able to express yourself clearly in both Dutch and English. If you also have intercultural communication skills, that would be a plus.
- You are available in the evenings and on weekends, and you (preferably) live in Amsterdam.
- You love music and concerts, and you enjoy discovering new music
No two people are alike. The Concertgebouw strives to be an organization where everyone feels welcome and safe—a place where employees can be themselves and are given the freedom and recognition they need to contribute to our mission in their own way.
What will you be doing?
You will serve as the point of contact for musicians, technical and stage crew, and colleagues both in the lead-up to the concert and on the day of the event. With your enthusiasm, attention to detail, and experience, you will ensure that the musicians can deliver their best performance and contribute to the Concertgebouw’s mission to offer our visitors a diverse, high-quality program.
Your main duties and responsibilities are:
- You are responsible for the overall production of concerts, (online) streams, and educational projects, both during the planning phase and on the day of the event.
- You will serve as the point of contact for all practical, logistical, and technical matters related to production, as well as for communication and coordination with directors, costume designers, and lighting designers.
- You schedule rehearsals, draw up production schedules, and handle the logistics for staff and equipment. You enter all concert information into the iConcert computer system.
- You will welcome and assist the musicians.
- You manage the concert budgets and provide input for financial processing.
What does your team look like?
You will be part of the Production Department, a dedicated and vital team of nine colleagues. The team is responsible for staging the concerts and projects under the In-House Programming and Education and Participation divisions. The Production Department is part of the Production, Venue Rental, and Events Department.
What do we offer?
- A salary between €2,635 and €3,443 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours per week).
- In addition, you will also receive an irregular hours allowance for this position.
- Full-time employment is preferred, but a contract for 30.4 hours per week is also an option.
- You’ll be taking on a versatile, independent role in a challenging industry.
- You can attend concerts in what is (in our humble opinion) the most beautiful concert hall in the Netherlands.
- You can take training courses to keep your knowledge up to date and further your professional development.
- You can work partly from home if you want to.
- Free ticket program for employees.
- A bicycle plan for up to €749, including VAT.
- You are accruing pension benefits.
- And last but not least: you’ll be part of a dedicated, enthusiastic, and friendly team with a relaxed work environment.
