The Park Foundation in Rotterdam is looking for several reception staff to join our team and help make the Park Pavilion the place in the Park where nature, art, and people come together.

Who are we?

The Park, located on the Maas River and next to the Euromast, is Rotterdam’s largest green national monument at 21 hectares and a beloved destination for over 1.6 million visitors each year. Amid the hustle and bustle of the city, the Park offers a haven for those seeking both tranquility and excitement, with the vibrant colors of monumental trees, festivals, kingfishers, sunbathing Rotterdammers, and romantic meandering streams. The Park was designed in 1852 as an idealized experience of nature by the renowned landscape architects Zocher. We maintain the Park with care and love and do whatever it takes to move visitors with the beauty of this place. In addition, we offer a rich and varied program where art and nature intersect, and we tell the story of the city park and the Park Pavilion.

The Park Pavilion, home to the Park Foundation, serves as the gardeners’ workshop, our office, and a gathering place for park enthusiasts in a quiet corner of the city. Here, everything revolves around nature, art, and connection. Visitors can relax, find inspiration, and actively participate in the Park community. The Park Pavilion embodies sustainability, hospitality, and a love for the Park.

We are looking for several receptionists to join our team of front-desk staff. Various employment options are available: 0.2 FTE, 0.4 FTE, and 0.6 FTE, depending on your availability.

What will you be doing?

As a receptionist, you are the face of the Park Pavilion. Together with the Park Team, you ensure that everyone feels welcome and enjoys a warm and friendly atmosphere. Whether it’s curious tourists, regular park-goers, local residents, event organizers, the City of Rotterdam, or Erasmus MC, you are the friendly point of contact for everyone who visits the Park. With your enthusiasm and dedication, you’ll ensure that the Park Pavilion becomes a place where everyone feels at home.

You will be responsible for:

  • Welcoming visitors and professionals, helping them find their way around, and above all, giving them a warm welcome at the Park Pavilion and in the Park.
  • Promoting the Park’s mission, vision, and program. You know everything about what Stichting het Park does and are familiar with its program.
  • The sale of items in the Park Shop, such as hiking maps and park merchandise.
  • Assisting with workshops, lectures, and other activities.
  • Coordinating facility management, including inventory management, mail, the park library, and cleaning the Park Pavilion.

Who are you?

You have a naturally warm and open demeanor. Working with people energizes you. You keep a clear overview, are happy to roll up your sleeves, and create a pleasant atmosphere, even under pressure. You have no problem adapting quickly or handling light physical work. In addition, you’re flexible with your hours, confident, and have an eye for detail. You’re interested in nature, art, and the stories behind the Park. Experience in hospitality is a plus.

When do you work?

You will work alongside other reception staff during the Park Pavilion’s opening hours. You will coordinate your schedule with your colleagues. Your hours may vary by season and depending on the program.

The Park Pavilion is open Wednesday through Sunday, with seasonal hours:

  • Spring through fall: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Winter hours: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

In addition, the Park Pavilion is also open outside these hours for events and special programs.

What do we offer?

  • Depending on your experience, the salary ranges from €2,450 to €3,000 gross per month, based on a 40-hour workweek.
  • Benefits: 8% vacation pay, 25 vacation days for full-time employees, and a travel allowance of €0.21 per kilometer.
  • A varied role in an inspiring workplace located in the heart of Rotterdam’s largest green national monument.
  • The opportunity to work with a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
  • Opportunities for personal growth and involvement in the Park community.
