Would you like to work at the highest level of protocol in the Netherlands? Do you enjoy the dynamic atmosphere of a political workplace? Are you professional, meticulous, and skilled at working systematically? That sounds like an excellent foundation for the position of Protocol Support Staff Member at the Senate!
One of your primary responsibilities is to provide comprehensive support for events organized by the Senate. These might include a Christmas reception for all senators or the reception of heads of state, who typically visit the Senate when they come to the Netherlands. Together with your protocol colleagues, you will ensure that the reception of all guests runs smoothly.
Another annual highlight is the organization of Prinsjesdag. In this role, you will provide both administrative and organizational support for all these events. You will manage various databases, handle correspondence with guests and partners, request quotes and verify invoices, schedule appointments, keep event schedules up to date, and keep internal colleagues informed about upcoming events.
Another responsibility involves the working visits of our President and Registrar. In their roles, they regularly have obligations both at home and abroad. This includes, for example, attending national commemorations. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure that the practical arrangements for these visits are organized efficiently.
One final role is that of a “fly-in support” for tasks within or outside your team. For example, you may be assigned to organization-wide projects or assist your colleagues in the communications office in liaising with journalists. You also serve as the primary backup for the offices of the President and the Clerk. Not only is this an educational experience, but you’ll also get to know the rest of the organization well.
As a support staff member at the Senate, you are fundamentally service-oriented and have excellent planning and organizational skills. You enjoy working with a wide variety of internal colleagues. You have a keen sense of interpersonal dynamics and both written and unwritten rules. In terms of competencies, you are meticulous, skilled at creating structure, and able to switch easily between different tasks and people. In addition, you have:
Salary level: Grade 7
Monthly salary: Min. €3,016 – Max. €3,879 (gross)
Employment status: Fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of conversion to a permanent contract
Contract duration: 1 year

Maximum number of hours per week: 36
Other terms and conditions of employment
In addition to your salary, you will receive a flexible benefits package (IKB). The IKB consists of monetary benefits (16.50% of your gross annual salary) and time off. With the IKB, you can make choices that suit you and customize part of your employment benefits. For example, you can choose to have a portion of your monthly income paid out whenever you wish. You can also convert this budget into leave and vice versa, or spend it on tax-friendly purposes. The Dutch government is strongly committed to personal growth and career development and offers numerous opportunities for this. The fringe benefits include various study facilities, company fitness programs, full reimbursement of your public transportation costs for commuting, and partially paid parental leave.
The government is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive organization. Working in diverse teams makes us more effective, more innovative, and makes the work more enjoyable. Everyone is therefore invited to apply.
