Are you strong in administrative work, do you enjoy helping colleagues with HR-related questions, and does documenting HR processes energize you? If so, this is your chance to play a key role within an inspiring, learning-oriented, and collaborative organization.

About Stadsschouwburg Utrecht

Stadsschouwburg Utrecht presents a wide range of performances, from emerging talent to established names, for a diverse audience. Each year, we welcome more than 200,000 visitors and are actively committed to education and talent development. We have two theater halls, lobbies, a café, and a theater restaurant. We work closely with theater companies, festivals, and institutions.

Diversity and accessibility are important to us. Sustainability, equality, reciprocity, and complementarity are central to this. Together, we are building a future-proof theater where everyone feels welcome.

Your role as a Human Resources Associate

You will be part of the Operations Team, which, in addition to colleagues from Finance and the Executive Secretariat, includes HR staff consisting of an HR Associate and an HR Consultant, with whom you will work closely.

Stadsschouwburg has over 150 employees. In this varied, independent, and hands-on role, you will help foster a pleasant and inclusive work environment for all employees. You will help ensure the smooth running of operational HR processes and administration, such as employee onboarding and offboarding, supporting hiring managers in the recruitment and selection process, drafting employment contracts and letters, monitoring absenteeism due to illness, and providing inspiring updates for our intranet and newsletters. You will serve as the point of contact for employees regarding work-related questions, including those about terms of employment and the collective bargaining agreement. You will actively collaborate with the HR consultant to identify ways to improve HR processes.

What do you bring to the table?

You have a talent for and interest in administrative work related to HR processes. You work carefully and methodically, and enjoy taking on tasks both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. You’re good at switching between different tasks and keeping track of everything, even when things get busy.

You communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and enjoy tasks such as drafting newsletters and updating HR announcements on the intranet.

Your colleagues feel welcome around you; you are approachable, honest, and willing to listen when needed. You believe it is important to contribute ideas within working groups on key organization-wide issues, such as a safe and healthy work environment.

Experience with HR systems and MS Office is a plus, but we value your eagerness to learn and your solution-oriented approach just as much.

What do we offer?

We offer you a versatile role within a close-knit team, in a pleasant work environment. In every department, we strive for diversity and the freedom to be yourself. There is room to experiment, learn, and grow. We believe that talent can develop in many different ways. If you’ve worked in a different industry, that’s not a problem at all—we’d love for you to apply.

You will receive a one-year contract, with the intention of extending it to a permanent position if both parties are satisfied. Our terms of employment comply with the Dutch Performing Arts Collective Labor Agreement (CAO Nederlandse Podia), with a salary based on your skills and experience, falling within scale 5 of the CAO Nederlandse Podia (min. €2,466.04 and max. €3,412.33 for a 36-hour workweek). You will receive at least 25 vacation days per year. In addition, we add the hours of national holidays to your leave balance. This gives you the freedom to choose which days you take off—for example, on holidays that are important to you.

We also offer other attractive employee benefits, including a generous pension plan, a bicycle purchase program, and a great employee benefit program that allows you to attend performances.

Does this job posting spark your interest?

We invite you to submit your application by June 9, 2025, via this link. We believe that talent can develop in many different ways. That’s why we use a questionnaire instead of a standard cover letter. This form helps us better understand your ideas and motivation.

Are you unsure whether you meet all the requirements, but do you think you’re the perfect fit for us? We invite you to apply, even if you don’t meet every single requirement.

If you would like to learn more about this position, please contact Cathelijne van Galen at c.van.galen@ssbu.nl or by phone at 030-2324145.

You will receive a response by phone or email within 7 days of the job posting’s closing date. Interviews are scheduled for June 17 and June 23. Finally, there will be a discussion regarding the terms of employment.

We value diversity

The power of theater brings people together. We place great value on diversity at all levels of the organization, and all colleagues are equal members of the theater team. We welcome everyone; we’re curious about your talent and how you can make a difference for our organization. We’re looking for new colleagues who want to contribute to an inclusive Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. You’re welcome here!
