Are you looking for a varied job with plenty of customer interaction? Do you enjoy helping others find the right answer to their questions quickly and effectively? And are you detail-oriented and able to handle pressure? Then we’re looking for you.

What will you be doing as a customer service representative at Boom uitgevers Amsterdam?

As a customer service representative, you are the primary point of contact for customers. You ensure that they have a positive experience with Boom uitgevers Amsterdam. You will respond quickly and effectively to questions from various target groups—including individuals, institutions, students, and teachers—via phone and email. You will also ask the right questions to ensure you find the best possible solution. In addition, you will enter customer and sales data and process sales orders and returns in our information system.

Where and with whom will you be working?

At our historic office on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, you’ll work in customer service alongside several colleagues. Boom uitgevers Amsterdam is part of Koninklijke Boom uitgevers. We are a transparent and informal company with about eighty employees, where you’ll be given a great deal of freedom and trust. The fields and markets we focus on? Philosophy, history, psychology and psychiatry, management and coaching, NT2, language, higher education, and primary and secondary education.

We have a unique, robust, and diverse portfolio that includes books, tests, and a wide range of digital products. Despite the size of our organization, working here still feels like a close-knit community. Doors are always open, communication lines are short, and there’s a strong sense of camaraderie.

At Boom, we want to provide a work environment where you can reach your full potential and where everyone feels at home. A work environment with diverse people, opinions, and perspectives that allows us to view our work from different angles.

What do we offer?

You’ll be working as part of a young team at a creative company. We take a critical yet constructive approach to our work and prioritize teamwork and job satisfaction. We’re always willing to go the extra mile—for our clients and for you. And besides:

  • We offer a varied position in a pleasant, supportive, and forward-thinking work environment.
  • You'll be working at a beautiful location in a historic building in Amsterdam with a view of the Prinsengracht.
  • A good work-life balance, in part because you can work from home on a flexible basis.
  • A salary in pay scale V of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Publishing Industry (€2,500 – €3,000 based on a 36-hour workweek and depending on your experience).
  • Personal spending allowance, 5 weeks of vacation, pension plan, and profit-sharing plan.
  • Unlimited access to training courses via Skilltown (more than 800 soft skills and subject-specific courses).
  • Access for you and your family to OpenUp (online support for mental health challenges).
  • Your own laptop so you can do your job to the best of your ability.

What are you bringing?

We’re looking for a curious and enthusiastic colleague who truly enjoys helping customers and suppliers. You like to dot the i’s and cross the t’s, but at the same time, you know how to keep the big picture in mind. You’re good at setting priorities, which comes in handy in a field where things are constantly changing. You’re confident and self-assured, yet you’re also good at putting yourself in other people’s shoes. You don’t get stressed easily; instead, you’re good at asking follow-up questions and adapting quickly. And in addition, you have:

  • experience in a similar position;
  • experience working with CRM, Navision, and various CMS systems, or the ability to quickly learn these systems;
  • excellent command of Dutch and English.
