About the Erasmus Trust Fund

Since 1913, the Erasmus Trust Fund has been dedicated to the growth and prosperity of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The Erasmus Trust Fund is a hybrid fund that provides financial support for scientific research and young talent using both returns on its own capital and funds raised from external sources. Erasmus University Rotterdam urgently needs this additional funding to continue competing with other universities on a global scale.

About the role

You’ll be part of a team of fundraisers and will be responsible for our online communications and printed materials. You have a way with words and a knack for identifying topics that can help the Erasmus Trust Fund stand out. You also enjoy organizing our events. Experience in fundraising is not required. What matters more is that you understand how communication works, that you know how to spark people’s interest in the Erasmus Trust Fund, and that you enjoy organizing events for our stakeholders. You’ll be part of a team of enthusiastic colleagues who love celebrating their successes together. As a communications and events specialist, you’ll play a key role in this. There’s no success without visibility and events.

What will you be doing?

• You are responsible for planning social media content, including text and images;
• You advise the team on social media strategy and focus on increasing the number of followers;
• You maintain the website;
• You will create engaging visual content and maintain and expand the existing image library;
• You write copy for brochures and oversee the printing process;
• You will organize the events program for our donors and partners.
• You will report to the Executive Director, who also serves as Head of Development. In addition, you will work closely with colleagues in the Fundraising & Grants Department.

What do you bring to the table?

• You have a college degree and/or the academic ability and mindset of a college graduate;
• You have some experience working as a communications officer; 
• You have some experience working as an events coordinator;
• You’re a natural writer and have a knack for identifying topics that can help the Erasmus Trust Fund stand out;
• You enjoy organizing events;
• You’re a natural with people and can easily build rapport with the Erasmus Trust Fund’s donors and partners.
• You have an interest in science.
