The Limburg Culture Tank is the advisory body to the Provincial Executive on provincial cultural policy. The Cultuurtank advises the Provincial Executive on grant applications within the Provincial Cultural Infrastructure and may advise on the cultural policy to be pursued. In 2024, the assessment and advisory round will take place for grant applications for the period 2025–2028.
We are seeking members for the Cultuurtank for the period through December 31, 2024 (with the possibility of reappointment for the period from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028).
The tasks of the Limburg Culture Tank on behalf of the Provincial Executive are:
a. the substantive and operational assessment of, and written advice on, grant applications under the Detailed Grant Rules for Cultural Infrastructure 2025–2028;
b. monitoring the artistic and operational progress of provincial Cultural Plan institutions (2021–2024) and cultural institutions in the provincial Sub-infrastructure (2023–2024) by:
c. providing advice on provincial policy development in the field of culture. This advice is provided at the request of the Provincial Executive.
In carrying out these tasks, the Cultuurtank must be familiar with and take into account the current Provincial Cultural Policy.
The Cultuurtank has between 11 and 17 members. We are currently seeking two new members. While suitability is the primary criterion, we aim for a diverse group in terms of gender, age, cultural background, and whether or not members reside in Limburg. Therefore, you are welcome to apply even if you do not live in Limburg. For members from Limburg, we aim for a geographical spread across North, Central, and South Limburg (based on place of residence).
The Province of Limburg supports the Cultuurtank through, among other things, the provision of administrative secretariat services. All members of the Cultuurtank sign a protocol that guarantees due diligence and integrity in the advisory process. Positions such as board or executive membership at cultural institutions subsidized by the Province of Limburg are incompatible with membership in the Cultuurtank.
The Policy Framework for “Selections and Appointments by the Provincial Executive” applies to the appointment of members of the Limburg Culture Tank.
The Cultuurtank’s regular meetings are held approximately once every two months on Wednesday afternoons. The total time commitment varies, with an annual peak during the monitoring round in November and a peak every four years during the evaluation and advisory round. The next evaluation and advisory round will take place in February–June 2024.
Each monitoring round consists of up to 5 half-day meetings. The assessment and advisory round is based on 15 half-day meetings.
Members of the Cultuurtank receive an allowance of €384.66 for attending (and preparing for) meetings, as well as reimbursement for travel expenses, in accordance with the current Regulation on the Legal Status of Local Political Officeholders in the Province of Limburg and the Cultuurtank Limburg Rules of Procedure 2021–2024.
If you would like more information, please contact one of our staff members at cultuurtank@prvlimburg.nl. Please submit your application by email no later than July 3, 2023, including a cover letter and resume addressed to cultuurtank@prvlimburg.nl. Interviews will be held on July 19, 2023.
Given the desired diversity within the Cultuurtank Limburg 2021–2024 and in light of its current composition, we will give preference to a woman if candidates are equally qualified.
