The KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations: a strategic leader who combines financial rigor with operational strength and a genuine commitment to global health. You will guide KNCV’s finance and operations through a period of change, helping the organization become more agile, efficient, and financially sustainable as it continues its mission to end tuberculosis and improve public health.

About KNCV

The KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB) and related health challenges. Founded in the Netherlands in 1903, KNCV has built more than 120 years of expertise in TB prevention and care, contributing to pre-elimination in the Netherlands and to evidence, policy, and programs worldwide. As an international knowledge center, KNCV collaborates with national TB programs, governments, civil society, academia, and funders in more than 40 countries. Its mission is to help create a world free of tuberculosis and related health challenges, guided by its Strategic Plan 2026–2030.

The position

As Director of Finance and Operations, you lead the division that combines financial management with KNCV’s operational services: finance, institutional and private fundraising, communications, HR, IT, and facilities. You report to the Executive Director and are a member of the Executive Committee, where you help shape and implement KNCV’s strategic direction. You are responsible for sound financial management, compliance, and risk, as well as for systems and processes that are effective, scalable, and aligned with KNCV’s programs, including financial and operational support to country offices.

The moment

KNCV operates in a changing funding landscape, in which donor funding is under pressure and the organization has already adapted its operating model. The guiding principle for the period ahead is to adapt rather than resist, and to develop alternative funding sources. A key objective is business development that combines development cooperation with private-sector engagement and a renewed business model. As Director of Finance and Operations, you will help drive this diversification, introduce more business-like and efficient ways of working, and strengthen and develop the team that reports directly to you, so that the organization builds lasting capacity for the future.

Your profile

  • You have at least ten years of senior operational and financial leadership experience within an (international) nonprofit or health development organization.
  • You have a proven ability to manage complex, multi-country operations with diverse funding sources.
  • You have experience in donor compliance, governance, and risk management, and are familiar with institutional and international funding mechanisms.
  • You combine strong analytical and strategic planning skills with a people-centered leadership style, and you invest in the development of your team.
  • You hold a master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field (MBA or MPA preferred).
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • Experience in the private sector, in addition to development cooperation, is a plus rather than a requirement; in particular, the ability to promote business development and funding diversification.

Terms of Employment

The position is classified in scale 12: €7,399.72 to €11,077 gross per month, plus a vacation allowance and a 13th month’s salary. On an annualized basis, this corresponds to approximately €103,892 to €155,521 gross per year. Above all, the role offers the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to a world free of tuberculosis.

The complete role description, including all responsibilities and requirements, is outlined in the full job description.

Diversity and Inclusion

Colourful People and KNCV look beyond the standard profile. We warmly welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and leadership styles, and evaluate each candidate based on quality, complementarity, and fit.
