Companies in the Netherlands are leaders in digital transformation, but are they also secure? Whether it’s a multinational corporation, a freelancer, or the accounting firm down the street, you’ll help boost these businesses’ digital resilience. That’s your mission as a Cybersecurity Advisor at the Digital Trust Center.
You’ll do this by providing information, tools, and practical solutions that help entrepreneurs better protect themselves against cyber threats. Want to help make the Netherlands more cyber-resilient? Come join the Digital Trust Center, part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy!
As a Cybersecurity Advisor within the Digital Trust Center (DTC), you’re a jack-of-all-trades. You have a solid foundation in the field of cybersecurity and, ideally, experience with digital security for small and medium-sized businesses. You have a solid understanding of how the internet works, how system users think, and you know where the risks lie for businesses. Drawing on your experience, you’ll help develop various advisory products and tools for small and medium-sized businesses and aren’t afraid to share your vision on these matters.
To effectively address the varying levels of (cybersecurity) maturity across a very broad range of clients, a strong ability to empathize with the DTC target audience is required. As a Cybersecurity Advisor, you will play a multifaceted role, serving as a strategic partner to key stakeholders both within and outside the government, and translating complex issues into language that entrepreneurs can understand. The end products you deliver in collaboration with your team are practical and useful resources that contribute to increasing the cyber resilience of the Dutch business community.
As a member of our existing team of Cybersecurity Advisors, you’ll take a creative approach to addressing digital resilience issues for businesses, proactively develop innovative concepts, and communicate them effectively. You’ll embrace the challenge of working with your team to critically explore opportunities and enthusiastically share your vision and approach.
You also enjoy giving presentations on various topics—including technical ones—that entrepreneurs may encounter in the area of digital resilience.
To stay up to date, you monitor recent developments, incidents, and investigations and evaluate them thoroughly. For example, is there a serious threat to small and medium-sized businesses? If so, what is the impact? Are security advisories and patches available? Based on your experience in the business world, you can, to the extent possible, assess whether and to what extent a particular (software) product is used within the target group. In doing so, you also assess whether the threat is likely to attract attention from, for example, the media or the political sphere.
Next, it’s up to you to draft an explanation—including recommendations—to alert companies, with the aim, of course, of preventing business owners from falling victim to these scams. Naturally, you won’t be doing this alone, but rather in collaboration with a diverse team of cybersecurity advisors, communications specialists, account managers, and staff members.
