Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for Two Dynamic Ministries

Job Description

Do you have the ambition to apply and expand your knowledge and experience in the field of diversity and inclusion? Are you willing to tackle complex issues and situations head-on to help build a more inclusive organizational culture?

Then you are the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator we are looking for. In this challenging role in The Hague, you will work as part of a dedicated team of three motivated colleagues, where you, as the coordinator, will play a leading role. With your enthusiasm, expertise, and perseverance, you and your colleagues will take the steps necessary to truly make a difference in the areas of diversity, equality, and inclusion within the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (LNV), which together employ approximately 13,000 people.

You will be working for two dynamic ministries responsible for the most pressing socio-political issues, such as the situation in Groningen and the challenges related to nitrogen and climate change. Within this dynamic environment, you will take steps that will lead to a genuine cultural shift in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion: that is the essence of your impactful and highly varied role as a coordinator on this important social issue.

Across the government, working on diversity and inclusion has been embraced as a key priority for all ministries, their departments, managers, and employees. Within the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), a seed has been planted in recent months that will sprout in the coming years to make a visible impact, with you at the helm. As a coordinator, you and your colleagues will ensure that we think and act in a diverse and inclusive manner down to our very core. You will be supported in this by your direct supervisor, who, with their DGI experience, can further assist you in your professional development.

You will serve as the figurehead and ambassador for diversity, equity, and inclusion for both miniseries and at all levels, both internally and externally. You will discuss the topic with senior officials, build support among the directorates and executive services, participate in consultations with colleagues from Social Safety, maintain strong ties with employee networks, and build an effective network around the DGI theme. You can count on the support of the leadership at EZK and LNV, who have made the creation of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization one of their key policy priorities.

To build organization-wide support and drive the necessary actions, you will develop an effective (communication) strategy. You will do this in collaboration with your team, providing them with substantive guidance. You will translate the strategy into a concrete plan that effectively reaches all levels of our departments and mobilizes them around the theme. The foundation for this approach is already in place, but you will use your knowledge and experience to determine how we can translate these plans from paper into practice.

Job Requirements

You are an experienced and dedicated professional who is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion. With your enthusiasm, you are able to engage people in changes in this area, while effectively managing resistance and navigating the political and administrative complexities of two major ministries. You have a clear vision on the subject, can develop a concrete and practical strategy, possess perseverance, and are persuasive in your approach while demonstrating empathy. You always keep your sights set on your long-term goals and know how to achieve them, sometimes in small steps and with the necessary creativity. You are also skilled at networking, planning, and organizing; you have strong communication skills, are resilient under pressure, and can approach issues from various perspectives.

What else we ask for:

  • You have experience with cultural and behavioral change, as well as with developing and implementing policies related to diversity, equity, and inclusion within a large and complex organization.
