Design Academy Eindhoven is looking for a Coordinator for our Bachelor's Program (16 hours per week)

About DAE

Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) is one of the world’s leading design schools, recognized internationally for its forward-thinking approach and its renowned faculty and alumni. For over 70 years, it has trained aspiring designers to shape the future by thinking freely and openly about the potential of design, consistently exploring design as a tool for material, social, environmental, and critical innovation. Today it is home to a community of many nationalities and cultures, offering an environment where personal perspectives on the world can be translated into meaningful and daring propositions. They are guided in this by a team of professional designers, architects, researchers, writers, and curators, all active within the academy as well as in the professional field.

DAE is a University of the Arts that offers both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and specializes in training students in various design perspectives to produce critical and socially engaged designers. In addition to its educational programs, DAE maintains international research fellowships focused on collaborative research projects. What unites DAE is a shared commitment to the political values of an inclusive society that embraces diversity in every aspect. Furthermore, the hybrid, conceptual, contextual, and international approach to design sets DAE’s programs apart.

About Working at DAE

The Academy’s community is its heart. From Studio Leaders to tutors, coordinators to workshop instructors, caretakers to the catering team, students and staff, each individual plays an important role in shaping DAE.

With this in mind, the Academy aims to create an inclusive environment for all its employees, offering opportunities for both personal and professional growth within a stimulating and safe workplace. The school’s personnel policy also places a strong emphasis on identifying and supporting talent and fostering a healthy and engaging social atmosphere.

As we build our excellence on the diversity of our staff and student community, we remain committed to diversity and inclusion and strive to provide a safe learning and working environment in the broadest sense. We foster equality and inclusion, and promote respect and a sense of belonging for all. We therefore encourage proposals from all sectors of society.

About the department

Our Bachelor's Program includes eleven design studios that are an integral part of the curriculum. You will work as part of a team of coordinators and academic advisors and will report to the Head of the Bachelor's Program.

What you will be doing

In this role, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our education and operations. You will coordinate two teams within the Bachelor’s Department. You will handle communication and planning with tutors and students, monitor the quality assurance of the program’s overall structure throughout the year, facilitate the evaluation process, address issues during regular meetings with the educational support teams, lead feedback sessions, and organize field trips. You will serve as a key facilitator and manage the budgets for educational activities. You are actively involved in the organization and administration of assessments and exams.

More generally, this role also involves process improvement: together with your team, you analyze current processes and systems and work to make them more efficient. You identify and propose opportunities for improvement and monitor progress. You collaborate with tutors, students, studio leaders, the Head of the BA Program, your coordinating colleagues, and support services (e.g., Finance, HRM, Communications) to ensure that processes run as smoothly as possible. Therefore, you are required to be present at DAE for at least 2 days a week.

What you will bring to the team

Our goal is to attract and retain individuals who not only meet the requirements of our positions but are also committed to our values, which include curiosity, inclusivity, courage, creativity, and reliability. We therefore look for people who demonstrate competence in self-development, integrity, professionalism, creativity, and teamwork. Our ideal Coordinator has:

  • academic, professional, and intellectual ability;
  • proven experience in a similar position, preferably in (higher) education;
  • broad knowledge of the organization and the quality of education;
  • a proactive and flexible attitude and skills that foster connection;
  • skills in planning and organizing, with an understanding of organizational and financial relationships;
  • a problem-solving and service-oriented attitude;
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong command of English, both spoken and written.

Our offer

We are offering you a challenging position in an international and dynamic work environment. This involves two part-time positions, each for 16 hours a week. The salary ranges from €3,881 to a maximum of €5,332 gross per month for full-time employment (scale 11). The terms of employment are in accordance with the CAO-HBO collective labor agreement, including a holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3%. We offer a one-year temporary contract with the possibility of extension. Submission of a VOG (certificate of good conduct) is a requirement for accepting a position at Design Academy Eindhoven.

Information and Application

For more information about the position, please contact Janneke Schreuder, Head of the Bachelor’s Program, by phone at +31 6 118 616 81.

Please submit your application by July 10 via the job postings section on our website (https://welcome.designacademy.nl/vacaturebeschrijvingen/vacatures-outsite ), including a resume and a cover letter that outlines what you can bring to the role, your previous experience, and why you would like to work at DAE.
