Job Opening: Committee Members for the Bosch Cultural System

Would you like to help shape the arts and culture offerings that reflect the diversity and variety of voices in our community? You can do so by joining the Bosch Cultural System Committee. We are looking for several new committee members.

We strive to ensure that as many residents as possible can find something to their liking in our municipality’s cultural offerings. We therefore hope to receive applications from candidates representing a wide range of ages, cultural backgrounds, genders, and fields of expertise.

The Advisory Committee

The committee reviews grant applications for cultural projects across various artistic and cultural disciplines. The Bosch Cultural System Committee does this on behalf of three municipal cultural funds: the National Distinction Fund, the Local Impact Fund, and the Pop-up Fund.

The advisory committee consists of twelve external members who meet in varying configurations to discuss the applications received. Each fund has two application rounds per year.

What does a committee member do?

As a committee member, you will provide recommendations on grant applications from the cultural sector in Den Bosch. A five-member committee is formed for each application round. During committee meetings, you will discuss your findings with the other committee members. Under the chairperson’s leadership, the committee will collectively reach a decision on whether to approve or reject each application.

As a committee member:

  • You will evaluate the project plans and budgets of the grant applications submitted to the municipal funds;
  • you check whether the plans align with the objectives of that specific cultural fund;
  • you will consult with the other committee members to reach a recommendation on whether to award or deny the grant.

Who are we looking for?

The Bosch Cultural System Committee reviews applications from various disciplines:

visual arts, theater, music, dance, urban culture, literature, film, and more. That’s why we’re looking for

multiple candidates with diverse areas of expertise and varied backgrounds. Since we are looking to form a broadly-based committee, we also invite you to apply if you have (administrative) experience outside the cultural sector.

Do you recognize yourself in one or more of the following traits?

  • Knowledge of the cultural scene in 's-Hertogenbosch, the region, and/or at the national and international levels.
  • Experience working at a cultural and/or social organization.
  • Administrative, organizational, or artistic expertise in project-based work (within or outside the cultural sector).
  • Consulting skills, a professional work ethic, strong communication skills, and a passion for culture.

We warmly invite you to apply for this position.

Based on the responses received, a broad pool of candidates will be assembled.

Independence

The committee members and chairperson have no administrative, professional, or personal ties to the arts and cultural institutions submitting applications. For this reason, we are seeking committee members who have no direct interests in cultural organizations within the municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch.

What do we offer?

A committee member is appointed for a four-year term, with the possibility of extending this term

The term may be extended once for a period of two years. There are a maximum of eight meetings per year. The number of meetings you attend depends on your availability. Depending on the number of applications, preparing for and attending a committee meeting will take you about four to six hours.

For your work, you will receive:

  • an attendance fee per half-day meeting attended (morning, afternoon, evening), including preparation: €150;
  • a fee of €15 per application reviewed;
  • a stipend of €100 for attending the informational sessions;
  • full reimbursement of travel expenses (public and private transportation), parking fees, and any admission fees.
