As a strategic advisor, you’ll work on the industry’s transition by conducting in-depth analyses and providing recommendations to ensure we achieve the goals of the National Program for Sustainable Industry: a strong and green industry in the Netherlands. In this way, you’ll make a valuable contribution to a major ecological, social, and economic challenge.
You will be part of the program office for the National Program for Sustainable Industry. This program office supports the program manager and the high-level steering committee—which includes the Ministers of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, as well as the State Secretary for Infrastructure and Water Management—in carrying out their work.
We are looking for four team members who can analyze the industrial and energy systems with a keen eye, identify major bottlenecks, and propose solutions to address them. You will work alongside other members of the program office and staff from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), grid operators, and industry representatives who are collaborating on the National Program for Sustainable Industry.
Your job responsibilities include the following tasks:
You have a sharp, analytical mind and excel at thinking systematically. You quickly get to the heart of the matter and are skilled at translating your analysis into targeted advice, both verbally and in writing. You are confident enough to offer advice that, when necessary, goes against conventional wisdom. At the same time, you possess situational awareness and interpersonal skills that ensure your advice is heeded and that you can collaborate on solutions. You can work in a dynamic political-administrative context. You are decisive and action-oriented. You have an affinity for the industry and the sustainability challenges facing this sector. You are able to build connections between the various stakeholders. You are able to work in highly varied environments and teams.
We are looking for a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. We seek a mix of experience from the public sector, the private sector, consulting, or research. We also seek a background in one or more of the following fields: market regulation, business economics, engineering, and administration & planning.
The pay grade will be determined based on knowledge and experience.
For Grade 13, we also expect several years of relevant work experience and a demonstrated understanding of political and administrative dynamics.
