Advisors on Transparency, Information Management, and Disclosure for Policy Directorates

Would you like to help build a transparent central government where information is easy for everyone to find? Are you passionate about transparency, information management, and disclosure? And would you like to play a pioneering role in promoting greater openness and transparency at one of the directorates-general (DG) at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) or the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV)? Then apply to become an advisor on transparency, information management, and disclosure.

In this new role, which you will help shape in part, you will closely monitor relevant developments in the areas of information management, disclosure, and transparency, and apply these insights to the day-to-day operations of your DG. This might include, for example, implementing guidelines for Berichtenapp archiving or overseeing the process for disclosing decision memos. You will also contribute ideas for improvements in handling Woo requests and coach colleagues on prioritizing and organizing their work. If necessary, you will act as a team leader. Thanks to your leadership, your colleagues will know exactly how to handle their information; you will promote a transparent way of working and ensure that information management for substantive cases is and remains in order.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and management on matters related to information management, disclosure, and transparency, and you will establish the appropriate framework, processes, and guidance for these areas. You will do this in collaboration with relevant policy staff, colleagues responsible for handling Woo requests, and others. As an advisor, you are a true hub of the organization, identifying opportunities and acting on them proactively. In addition, in this role you serve as a liaison at the tactical/strategic level and relieve managers and directors of concerns related to your areas of expertise.

As an advisor on Transparency, Information Management, and Disclosure, you will interact with a wide range of stakeholders involved in these areas. This includes the Transparency in Information (TiI) Program, which oversees all new developments related to information management and disclosure, as well as departments such as Digital Information Services. Or colleagues in the Legislation and Legal Affairs Directorate, who can provide advice on the disclosure of confidential information. You will also have frequent contact with colleagues working on these topics in other directorates-general (DGs) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV). You will assist one another where necessary and exchange knowledge and experience.

Your duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • You will serve as the point of contact for staff and management within the DG on all matters related to information management, disclosure, and transparency.
  • You will keep the various departments of the DG informed of and translate developments in the areas of information management, disclosure, and transparency.
  • You are the point of contact within the DG for all matters related to information systems and their use.
  • You will help design and document processes for information management and disclosure.
  • You will serve as the point of contact for your DG regarding the department-wide Transparency in Information program.
  • You will assist with the implementation of new procedures and guidelines within your DG.
  • You coach, guide, and support employees.
  • You will participate in activities and meetings related to the three themes within the ministry and the federal government.

We are currently looking to hire three Transparency, Information Management, and Disclosure Advisors to support four Directorates-General (DGs):

  • Business & Innovation (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy)
  • Ministry of Nature and Fisheries (LNV)

Which DG will you be working in? We’ll decide that together with you based on your interests, knowledge, and experience. This means that when you apply for this general opening, we’ll work with you during the selection process to determine which role within the organization is the best fit for you. Recruitment is coordinated by the Transparency in Information (TiI) Program. For new employees, the TiI Program organizes a joint onboarding program covering various topics, such as an introduction to the organization, work processes, and education and training. In this way, we work together to ensure you get off to a flying start.

You can find more information about the DGs under the heading “About the DGs at EZK and LNV.” We ask that you indicate in your cover letter which DGs you prefer, based on your interests and knowledge.

You have an affinity for and experience with transparency, information management, and disclosure. You are capable of both designing processes related to these areas and carrying them out yourself. You do this by working in a structured and meticulous manner. You have a knack for maintaining an overview. When faced with a flood of information and deadlines, you remain calm and can adapt quickly and flexibly.

You are a natural networker, which allows you to easily establish connections and coordinate with various parties, and you have a keen sense of political and administrative sensitivities.

You are comfortable working in a large organization where effective coordination with many different stakeholders is the norm. You understand that you cannot make decisions on complex issues such as disclosure and transparency on your own, and that thorough consultation is essential to achieving a widely supported outcome.

You work independently and in an organized manner, and you’re flexible when it comes to adjusting plans. You handle fast-paced environments well, work quickly, and keep a cool head during busy periods with tight deadlines.

In addition, you have at least 3 years of work experience, preferably within a government organization.
