About Conny Janssen Dances

The company is strongly committed to talent development through its “Room for Talent” program, which provides ample opportunities for emerging choreographers and dancers. In 2019, the company moved to Katendrecht and opened HUIS Conny Janssen Danst. With the development of HUIS, Conny Janssen Danst is at the beginning of a promising new phase, in which it is actively building a Rotterdam House for Dance. The company receives multi-year, structural funding from the Performing Arts Fund and the City of Rotterdam.

Job Description

The Executive Director, together with Artistic Director Conny Janssen, is responsible for the continuity and development of the company and HUIS, particularly with regard to strategic and financial policy, ticket sales, internal organization, strengthening the company’s national and international reputation, and Conny Janssen Danst’s position within the field of modern dance.

The Executive Director manages the organization in the areas of human resources policy, organizational matters, and budgetary issues, and reports to the Foundation’s Board of Directors at board meetings on the policies being implemented, progress, and developments within the company. Effective 2024, the organization will transition from a board model to a Supervisory Board model.

1) The transition from a dance company to a House of Dance;
2) An increase from an average of two productions to three productions per year, with the third production to be created by a mid-career artist;
3) The development of new large-scale performances that will no longer bear solely the signature
of Conny Janssen.
