Theaterschool Utrecht (TSU) was founded in 2019 and is located at Domplein 4. With 1,600 students, TSU is the largest theater school in the Netherlands for children, teenagers, and adults. Over the past four years, Theaterschool Utrecht has become a hub in Utrecht’s amateur arts scene and education, attracting students from across the country.
We offer a diverse program of courses for all ages and audiences, in close collaboration with our students and instructors, and are constantly developing innovative programs to attract new audiences. Courses in acting, theater sports, cabaret, spoken word, preparatory courses, and gap-year programs, as well as community projects in various neighborhoods of Utrecht, form the core of our offerings.
We are currently seeking a business director with an entrepreneurial mindset.
You will hold a leadership position, working closely with and coordinating with the artistic director to determine the organization’s artistic direction. There is some overlap in your responsibilities, but while the artistic director focuses more on day-to-day operations and the organization’s artistic direction, your emphasis will be on long-term planning and collaborative partners, such as the Utrecht Theater Council (UTO) and the Utrecht Amateur Education Network (NAU).
As Business Director, you not only understand the importance of strategic thinking, but you’ll also have the freedom to establish structure and bring your vision to life, with the team’s performance serving as your guiding principle. In this role, you are both an innovator and a connector. The business director is responsible for financial policy, fundraising, HR policy, and (co-)managing the team, and shapes the development, implementation, execution, and professionalization of TSU’s operations.
In addition, the business director works closely with the residents and contractors at our property at Domplein 4 and is skilled at building relationships through stakeholder management.
An inspiring workplace at our location on Domplein and the flexibility to set your own schedule. You’ll also be part of an enthusiastic team with six direct colleagues and a large group of instructors.
Your salary is competitive within the cultural sector and is classified under job grade 12 of the Collective Labor Agreement for Arts Education. This is initially a one-year appointment, with the possibility of a permanent position thereafter.
Please send a cover letter (written or video) along with your resume by Thursday, February 8, to sollicitatie@theaterschoolutrecht.nl. The first interviews are scheduled for Thursday, February 15.
Theaterschool Utrecht is committed to being an inclusive organization and adheres to the Diversity & Inclusion Code. We strive to ensure that our team reflects the diversity of society. We take this into account during the selection process. If you prefer, you may also apply anonymously.
