Business Director

Theaterproductiehuis Zeeland is based, as the name suggests, in Zeeland. We produce performances, host residencies for talented artists and creators, and serve as a driving force for culture in the region. In recent years, we have laid the groundwork for a new and challenging way of working. Our performances are created for unique venues in Zeeland and beyond, for various stages and festivals, and tour nationally and internationally. In addition to creating productions, TPZ organizes the annual Zeeland Late Summer Festival, a platform where site-specific performances are presented and where new creators and collectives can be seen, with Zeeland as their stage.

TPZ offers theater makers, musicians, and artists from the Netherlands and Belgium a platform to develop their talent. Together with artists, we create multifaceted and multidisciplinary performances, always drawing on their artistic essence. We are a region in development in a world that is constantly changing.

As Executive Director, you are the driving force behind our organization, investing in our close ties to Zeeland and in our passionate team and creators. You have a keen eye for the stability and growth of our theater production company, working closely with our artistic director and the board of trustees to realize our ambitious plans. With an eye for different perspectives and interests, you know how to set a course and bring others along with you. You are therefore an excellent communicator.

Whether you come from the public sector, the business world, or the cultural sector, your personality and ability to spot opportunities and make connections are invaluable. You are a forward-thinker who dares to venture off the beaten path, embracing Zeeland’s DNA while also maintaining a broad perspective that extends beyond provincial and national borders. You know how to navigate the issues of our time with skill and ground them firmly in Zeeland’s soil.

The Executive Director and the Artistic Director together form the management of TPZ. Both members of the management have statutory authority and report to the supervisory board.

The ideal candidate has:

• Experience in or a strong affinity with the cultural sector and knowledge of the cultural context of Zeeland (preferred)
• Administrative experience and the maturity to negotiate
• Knowledge of financial structures in the cultural sector
• An open and inspiring demeanor, and an inclusive leadership style
• A global perspective and awareness of current events, combined with political and cultural sensitivity
• Entrepreneurship and creative thinking, with an eye for business opportunities
• The ability to make connections and bridge divides
• Sensitivity to the needs of our team, our creators, policymakers, and the region
• Courage, drive, and motivation to innovate and grow
• A broad network within the cultural sector and among TPZ’s key stakeholders is a pr
