We are looking for a passionate team manager who, with courage and entrepreneurial spirit, can help make a difference in the health of residents of Amsterdam and the Amstel region. In the role of team manager, given the context of the team care environment, you will fulfill various roles and be part of the Healthy Living Management Team. You will work in the team care environment, part of a department that launched in 2022 and is still very much in transition.
We realize that making a greater impact on the health of Amsterdam’s residents and those in the Amstel region is a bold ambition. It requires courage and initiative from you as a manager—and from all employees—to establish the necessary approach to working together, where task-oriented, results-oriented, clear client-contractor relationships, data-driven, and systematic work are key principles. As a transition manager, you are, of course, responsible for realizing this change initiative in your leadership role.
As a team manager and colleague, you maintain strong connections with those around you and are accountable for your actions. Through your coaching style, you inspire your team—mostly academic professionals—to broaden, expand, or further develop their expertise. Building trust is the foundation of this approach, and you know how to create a pleasant work environment.
In addition to your leadership role, you also effortlessly take on the role of project manager, effectively empowering your staff. The programs you oversee include “Healthy and Promising Start,” “Healthy Living” monitoring, and research on care and safety. Your portfolio also includes topics such as privacy and the Healthy Living Academy.
You will be part of the management team of the Healthy Living department. Together, we foster an open culture that encourages learning and improvement, where we trust in each other’s entrepreneurial spirit and professional expertise, and where we consciously leverage each other’s diverse strengths to work effectively with the project and program managers within the department.
We strive to be a great employer that ensures all our colleagues feel seen and valued. We embrace the differences among our colleagues; these differences lead to better results for both our organization and our city. We aim to build a workforce that reflects Amsterdam’s diverse population. So, whoever you are, you’re more than welcome here!
The Healthy Living Department was established on January 1, 2022, and is part of the GGD Amsterdam – Amstelland Division. This division of the City of Amsterdam offers a comprehensive range of public health services in the City of Amsterdam and the surrounding area.
The Healthy Living Department is committed to sustainable prevention and creating equitable health opportunities for all residents of Amsterdam and the Amstel region. To this end, various disciplines—including research/knowledge, advisory services, innovation, and project and program management—are effectively integrated. The department is therefore organized into various multidisciplinary thematic teams. Collaboration and knowledge sharing are central to this approach. In the programs and projects, colleagues from the different teams always work together on substantive tasks. Challenges of this scale and diversity in the city and region are constantly evolving and require tailored solutions and area-specific approaches. Doing this well together is one of the department’s key development priorities.
The Care Environment Team serves as the “steward” of the care environment perspective and the necessary cross-domain connections within the Healthy Living Department. For some residents of the region, a healthier environment is not enough to become and remain healthy. They need more support and care, often in combination with services from the social domain, such as income support or anti-poverty programs, services under the Social Support Act (Wmo), Mental Health Act (MO/BW) services, “prescription for well-being,” and others. A strong and appropriate connection between both sectors is crucial at all levels (implementation, policy, national), and sometimes innovation is needed to make this possible. This includes access to reliable monitoring data on vulnerable residents with care needs and providing guidance on how to make the care environment healthier (such as canteens and opportunities for physical activity).
