Head of Operations/Head of Facility Management, Railway Museum
The Railway Museum is a world-class cultural attraction. It takes visitors on a captivating journey through the world of rail. The Railway Museum typically welcomes over 450,000 visitors annually. Thanks to its magnificent collection, smart management, and enthusiastic staff, the museum enjoys national and international prestige.
We are currently seeking a new Head of Operations/Head of Facility Management
As Head of Operations and a member of the Management Team, you are the driving force behind the daily magic that the Railway Museum offers. You are not only a strategist and visionary, but also the heart of the operation that ensures everything runs smoothly every day. With a keen eye for both the big picture and the small details, you are building a future in which our museum continues to surprise and innovate.
Your role includes:
- Managing a wide range of departments with approximately 100 employees (Customer Service, Sales, Facilities Management and Engineering, Retail, and Food and Beverage).
- Responsible for maintaining the relationship with NS Real Estate and hospitality partner Vermaat.
- Fostering a culture of excellence, in which every employee across all departments is committed to providing the ultimate visitor experience.
- Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all operational processes, from staff scheduling to maintenance.
- Proactively contribute to strategic developments and innovations within the museum.
- Ensuring efficiency, productivity, and profitability while taking the museum experience to the next level.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to transform both a team and the museum experience.
