Thanks to its magnificent collection, smart management, and enthusiastic staff, the museum enjoys national and international prestige.

We are currently seeking a new Head of Operations/Head of Facility Management

As Head of Operations and a member of the Management Team, you are the driving force behind the daily magic that the Railway Museum offers. You are not only a strategist and visionary, but also the heart of the operation that ensures everything runs smoothly every day. With a keen eye for both the big picture and the small details, you are building a future in which our museum continues to surprise and innovate.

Your role includes:

  • Managing a wide range of departments with approximately 100 employees (Customer Service, Sales, Facilities Management and Engineering, Retail, and Food and Beverage).
  • Responsible for maintaining the relationship with NS Real Estate and hospitality partner Vermaat.
  • Fostering a culture of excellence, in which every employee across all departments is committed to providing the ultimate visitor experience.
  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all operational processes, from staff scheduling to maintenance.
  • Proactively contribute to strategic developments and innovations within the museum.
  • Ensuring efficiency, productivity, and profitability while taking the museum experience to the next level.

What we ask of you:

A vision for the future of how to optimally manage the Railway Museum while preserving its core values, backed by several years of experience in a similar leadership role. Strong organizational skills and the ability to transform both a team and the museum experience. An unshakably positive attitude, even under pressure, coupled with a passion for culture and community.

What do we offer you?

A highly varied position in an informal and unique work environment, where you’ll have the opportunity to help build a beautiful museum, all as part of a close-knit and dedicated team. A competitive salary ranging from €7,050 to €8,090 based on a 40-hour workweek, with opportunities for personal and professional growth. More information about the benefits package is available upon request. Upon your start date, a Certificate of Good Conduct will be requested to ensure the integrity of our organization.
