Festival Tweetakt is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced executive director who, together with the artistic director, will lead the organization.
Every year, the Tweetakt Festival allows a wide audience to experience just how meaningful, surprising, accessible, and powerful contemporary (performing) arts for children and young people can be. With a multidisciplinary program selected for its artistic innovation and accessibility, we reach toddlers, teenagers, and young adults. At the same time, the festival invites adults to experience just how engaging and fulfilling youth art can be. Festival visitors include children with their families or caregivers, teenagers, students, pupils, and professionals from elementary, secondary, and vocational schools in Utrecht and the surrounding area, as well as theater makers, critics, programmers, and other interested adults. Through collaboration with local (neighborhood) organizations, Tweetakt succeeds in involving residents of Utrecht’s culturally diverse suburbs in the festival as well. Tweetakt is the only multidisciplinary youth arts festival in the Netherlands. As one of Europe’s largest festivals for youth performing arts, Tweetakt attracts international programmers every year who praise the high artistic quality of the festival’s program and its emphasis on innovation.
Festival Tweetakt is included in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science’s Basic Cultural Infrastructure (BIS) 2025–2028. In addition, Tweetakt will receive funding from the Province of Utrecht during the upcoming cultural policy period.
The management team jointly oversees a small team of programmers, production staff, technicians, education, marketing, and communications staff, and a financial officer.
Tweetakt adheres to both the Cultural Governance Code and the Cultural Diversity Code. The collaboration and responsibilities of the executive board are set forth in the executive board regulations. Tweetakt is a foundation with two Executive Directors and a Supervisory Board (RvT), consisting of five experts in the fields of finance, law, politics, the arts, and social affairs.
The new Director/Manager will be responsible for, among other things, Tweetakt’s financial and organizational policies. This leadership role involves both financial and operational responsibilities. You will inspire and motivate both your internal team and external stakeholders.
