The Liliane Foundation is seeking a Director of Programs—an inspiring ambassador who will lead our program initiatives with a passion for disability inclusion.

What will you do?

As Director of Programs, you are an authentic leader with courage and vision, responsible for the program strategy of the Liliane Foundation and MIVA. Together with our partners in the Global South, you ensure the ongoing development of our programs, aiming to achieve the greatest possible impact so that all children with disabilities can participate fully.

In line with our commitment to fostering equal partnerships with our partners in the Global South—also known as “Shifting the Power”—you and your team will work to increase the visibility of our impact and strengthen our role as an expert, networker, and advocate. As a team leader and member of the Management Team (MT), you will shape and guide our programs in an inspiring way. You will also streamline and professionalize our working methods. You enjoy representing the Liliane Foundation and MIVA externally, leveraging your existing network and expanding it further. Internally, you will continuously seek connections with others and facilitate change processes.

Who are you?

  • You are someone who navigates a complex and dynamic work environment with ease and thrives on the challenge of developing a vision and strategy in collaboration with others, ensuring broad support and engagement, both internally and externally.
  • As a true "people person," you shape our vision and the changes that come with it in an inspiring way. You create an environment where people can grow, doing so clearly, decisively, and credibly, with a healthy sense of humor.
  • You demonstrate the ability and desire to connect naturally with people by being your authentic self. You have a genuine desire to contribute to the sustainability of the Liliane Foundation from a visionary perspective.
  • You are able to translate our strategy into concrete plans and actions. You develop and oversee processes and budgets, ensuring a solid foundation that enables employees and teams to do their work in a pleasant environment.

What do you bring to the table?

  • You identify with the Liliane Foundation’s three core values: Openness, Connectivity, and Trust.
  • You have a strong affinity for our field of work—inclusion (including for people with disabilities). This means you are not only passionate about international fundraising and partnerships, but you also bring solid and relevant experience to help ensure the sustainability of the Liliane Foundation.
  • You have at least three years of leadership experience at the senior management level in a similar organization and are willing to travel to partner organizations in Africa and Asia.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. The working language is English. Proficiency in French is a plus.
  • We are particularly interested in candidates who belong to a cultural minority, have a background in the Global South, and/or have a disability.
  • If you are not a Dutch citizen, you must meet the requirements to work in the Netherlands.

Position within the organization

In this role, you will lead the Programs department, which has a total of approximately 35 employees. You will manage the managers of the Program Strategy & Learning and Program Management teams. You will also manage Institutional Fundraising and Lobbying. You will be a member of the Management Team and report to the Managing Director of the Liliane Foundation.

What does the Liliane Foundation/MIVA offer?

  • An organization with strong social impact, a clear vision, and ambitious goals.
  • A work environment that actively strives to foster an inclusive culture, where employees from diverse backgrounds feel at home.
  • An accessible workplace centrally located in ’s-Hertogenbosch, just a 5-minute walk from the central station. The office has a cozy atmosphere and is housed in a former monastery with a beautiful courtyard. It offers excellent facilities for hybrid work.
  • A one-year contract, with the possibility of a permanent position if both parties are satisfied.
  • Attractive primary and secondary employment conditions, including:
  • A salary of up to €7,298 gross per month for a full-time position (38 hours per week), excluding an 8% vacation allowance.
  • Work-from-home allowance.
  • Full reimbursement of commuting costs for public transportation.
  • 197 vacation hours per year based on a 38-hour workweek, two wellness days, Keti Koti, and Carnival Monday as a day off. Additionally, you have the option to exchange public holidays for cultural or religious holidays that are important to you.

____

The Liliane Foundation has an active integrity and child protection policy. All employees sign the Code of Conduct and are required to adhere to it. Our Code of Conduct places special emphasis on the protection of children. All employees are also required to submit a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). During the application process, we also conduct a reference and integrity check with two previous employers or clients.

Approximately 50,000 children with disabilities received support from Liliane Fonds in 2023. We helped bring about a change in their lives—a change that, for most, means the difference between a life on the margins and a life among others, with opportunities for growth.

80% of all children with disabilities live in the poorest parts of the world. That’s no coincidence. Poverty leads to disabilities, for example due to a lack of nutritious food, poor living conditions, and limited access to health care. Conversely, disability leads to more poverty. This is partly because parents of children with disabilities face higher costs for care and medication. And also because the children themselves rarely have access to education and, later in life, the labor market. They are also hindered by social exclusion and stigma. In this way, the vicious cycle of poverty and disability is perpetuated.

The Liliane Foundation breaks this vicious cycle and improves the quality of life and future opportunities for children with disabilities. We make their living, playing, and learning environments more accessible and help build a society in which they can participate. We always work together with local partners, who understand the situation on the ground and have the networks needed to provide this support in the most effective way possible.

Since 2018, Liliane Fonds and MIVA have formed a joint staff union. At our office in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Liliane Fonds and MIVA together employ more than 95 staff members and more than 77 volunteers.
