Willem Twee Music and Visual Artswas established on January 1, 2017, through a merger of Muziekcentrum De Toonzaal, W2 Poppodium, Willem II Arts Cluster, and Analog Sound Studios.
Willem Twee Music and Visual Artshas two locations in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The former Willem II Factory on Boschdijkstraat houses the Poppodium’s Main and Small Halls, the exhibitions of Willem Twee Art Space, and the Willem Twee Café. The former synagogue on Prins Bernhardstraat houses the Toonzaal (a concert hall for classical music, jazz, and more) and the Willem Twee Studios, featuring unique equipment from the 1950s through the 1980s. At both locations, halls and meeting rooms are available for rent in a creative environment.
Willem Twee is also explicitly intended to be a place for creators: a center for talent and experimentation; a place where composers, producers, and artists are welcomed and supported, and where local and regional artists are challenged to develop monumental art. The three pillars (music, visual arts, and venue rental) upon which Willem Twee rests are constantly evolving. Some 30 full-time staff members and 100 volunteers form a dynamic and diverse workforce that underscores the organization’s rich diversity.
Willem Twee’s sources of revenue are diverse: ticket sales, rentals and catering, as well as national, local, and regional grants. In the future, Willem Twee will also play a key role in the development of De Kop van het Zand, an industrial site adjacent to Willem Twee that will eventually undergo a major cultural redevelopment.
