Mental Health Caribbean is seeking a new Executive Director who, based in Bonaire, will contribute with deep commitment to the further development of mental health care in the Caribbean Netherlands: St. Eustatius, Saba, and Bonaire.

About Mental Health Caribbean

Mental Health Caribbean (MHC) is a specialized organization in the field of mental health care in the Caribbean Netherlands and the Caribbean region. Since its founding in 2012, MHC has established a strong presence in the region. Our mission is to provide high-quality mental health care to people of all ages, from young to old, with the goal of improving the quality of life for the residents of the Caribbean Netherlands. At MHC, we believe in an approach that focuses not only on the client’s health and well-being, but also on the influence of other areas of life such as family, work, housing, and finances. Every client is unique to MHC!

Job Description

As Managing Director, you will play a multifaceted role within MHC. You will be responsible not only for developing strategic policies that proactively respond to current developments, but also for being flexible enough to make adjustments as needed. The ability to effectively align the annual organizational plan with the strategic plan is essential. This involves regular consultations with relevant stakeholders and timely adjustments as needed, while keeping the Supervisory Board consistently informed.

As Executive Director, you have extensive experience in the field of diversity and inclusion and are familiar with the various cultures on the islands. Recognizing that MHC serves a diverse client base, you are able to shape and develop MHC’s vision in an inclusive manner. You ensure that MHC—an organization in transition—continues to make a difference through its strong position and leadership role!

In addition, we expect you to represent the organization effectively to external stakeholders and to be able to influence policy at both the local and regional levels. Strong financial acumen is essential, as is the ability to take timely and well-considered corrective actions when necessary.

You are responsible for safeguarding and building upon what MHC has achieved to date, with the aim of maintaining the quality of care within the organization and continuously improving both employee and client satisfaction. Continuously promoting collaboration across the network—including with the so-called CAS islands—is always a top priority. In addition, we expect you to be skilled at leading and motivating employees in an inclusive manner within the established frameworks, creating a positive work environment and ensuring employees are motivated to achieve the set objectives.
