Flever is a social organization with a clear public mandate and a strong commitment to the community in Flevoland. In line with its mission, Flever works to promote inclusion, participation, and equal opportunities. As an independent and unifying organization, it operates at the intersection of policy and practice and collaborates with governments, social organizations, and knowledge partners to foster a vibrant society and a future-proof healthcare and welfare sector.
Flever is a compact organization with approximately 40 dedicated professionals. The culture is informal, professionally robust, and driven, with short lines of communication and plenty of room for expertise and initiative. Collaboration, trust, and professional development are key principles. At the same time, the current phase Flever is in calls for greater focus, precision, and cohesion, so that its social impact can be sustainably increased.
For Flever, the coming period will be characterized by stability, reassessment, and forward-looking decisions. Following an intensive phase of development and growth, the time has come to consolidate what has been built while simultaneously refining our focus, positioning, and collaboration.
The social and administrative context in which Flever operates is complex and constantly evolving; the challenges are significant. This calls for steadfast and unifying leadership: an executive director who maintains a broad perspective, is willing to make tough decisions, and firmly positions Flever, both internally and externally. Someone who communicates clearly about priorities and, together with employees, supervisors, and partners, builds trust, cohesion, and sustainable social impact.
As Executive Director, you will have ultimate responsibility for Flever’s strategy, policies, operations, and public image. You will manage the organization in accordance with the strategic frameworks agreed upon with the Supervisory Board and serve as the public face of Flever within the administrative and social landscape of Flevoland. You will safeguard Flever’s independent position while fostering constructive and professional relationships with the province, municipalities, and other partners.
You provide broad guidance while allowing room for professional autonomy, and at the same time ensure cohesion, clear frameworks, and transparent decision-making. You are visible, approachable, and steadfast, combining strategic insight with a focus on day-to-day operations.
Tasks for the coming period
The executive director faces a number of interrelated challenges. Internally, the focus is on bringing stability, clarity, and continuity to a lean organization. This requires strengthening internal collaboration, clarifying roles, and fostering a sense of ownership, while keeping work load and cohesion in mind. In doing so, the executive director employs a leadership style that gives professionals room to grow while also holding them accountable.
Externally, the challenge lies in more clearly positioning Flever as a reliable, independent, and strategic partner in healthcare and social services. Focus and prioritization are essential in this regard. Drawing on a solid understanding of social and policy developments, the executive director is able to translate these into clear and achievable decisions and consistently incorporate them into the organization’s strategy, programs, and external profile.
The Managing Director develops and implements Flever’s strategic and financial policies and leads the organization. He or she is responsible for operations, finance, and human resources, and creates the conditions for a professional, healthy, and learning-oriented work culture in which work is carried out effectively and with care.
