Cultuurpunt Walcheren Foundation

Cultuurpunt aims to promote participation in the arts and culture in Zeeland—with a focus on Walcheren, specifically in Middelburg, Vlissingen, and Veere—among all age groups: children, young people, adults, and seniors. Cultuurpunt focuses on:

  • Arts education in elementary and secondary schools and childcare facilities
  •
  • Cultural participation in the social sector and healthcare
  •
  • Strengthening the cultural sector through the development and support of cultural partnerships in the region.

Cultuurpunt is committed to promoting equal opportunities in the arts and culture both within its organization and beyond; diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of this commitment.

Cultuurpunt operates under a Supervisory Board model. The Supervisory Board has five members. The management team consists of the Executive Director and the Operations Manager. We have approximately nine enthusiastic and dedicated staff members. In addition, we collaborate with about 35 cultural professionals on a freelance basis and some 20 cultural organizations to achieve Cultuurpunt’s objectives.

Developments and areas of focus

The 2025–2028 policy plan will serve as a guide for the coming years and is designed to be flexible. Each year, the policy plan is monitored using the PDCA cycle, and adjustments are made as necessary.

Some key points from the policy plan are:

  • Promoting, developing, and supporting sustainable partnerships with organizations in the fields of cultural education, cultural participation, and cultural empowerment. With a focus on further developing cultural participation and community art projects.
  •
  • Linking art and culture to education, child care, the social sector, and health care through the lenses of inclusion and diversity.
  •
  • Developing an information and advisory service for the amateur arts sector.

The organization's key focus areas in this regard are:

  • Promoting professional development and building a broad and diverse network of highly skilled and employable cultural professionals in the region.
  •
  • Further development of the organization based on core values such as sustainability, transparency, equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion.
  •
  • Place greater emphasis on sustainability in the organization’s work processes.

Are you the new leader of Cultuurpunt?

The new executive director we have in mind is an inspiring and unifying leader who is visible both internally and externally.
