Wooncompas is a healthy, growing, and ambitious housing association with a passion for public housing. We are committed to providing a home for people with modest incomes or in special circumstances. A home that suits our tenants and gives them the space to shape their own living preferences. That’s how a house becomes a home. It’s just one letter difference, but for us and our residents, it makes a world of difference. We focus on expanding our housing stock and providing exceptional service to our tenants. In other words: we go the extra (s)mile.
Our goals
Our residential properties, commercial buildings, and assisted living facilities are located in Barendrecht, Albrandswaard, Ridderkerk (BAR), and Rotterdam. Over the years, we have grown to become the largest social housing provider in the BAR municipalities, with a strong presence in Ridderkerk. In the BAR municipalities, and especially in Ridderkerk, we are working on numerous (demolition and) new-construction projects where we are adding social housing as well as mid-range rental units. In Barendrecht, we are collaborating with other housing associations on the development of affordable housing in the new Stationstuinen neighborhood. In Rotterdam, we are further realizing the growth ambitions for our housing portfolio. Over the next ten years, we will invest approximately 700 million euros in renovation, sustainability improvements, acquisitions, and project development. As a result, our portfolio of approximately 10,000 rental units will grow to around 13,000 rental units in the coming period, primarily in Rotterdam. In doing so, we are contributing to the expansion of the housing stock. More information about Wooncompas can be found in ourbusiness plan and in our2022 annual report.
Our people
Wooncompas employs approximately 100 people. Together, we are driven to continue making a difference for our tenants today and tomorrow. We do this by putting people first and valuing our human capital. We are a values-driven organization that operates according to the core values of “people-oriented, connecting, and entrepreneurial.” We have big ambitions based on our social role and commitment. To realize them, we work closely together and give our professionals the freedom to thrive. That’s why we’re a flat organization, where everyone can contribute and where your input is valued. Collaboration is important to us—not just internally, but also with our external partners and our tenants. That’s why we’re connecting. And we are enterprising when it comes to seizing new opportunities to make our contribution to public housing in our region.
The F&B department consists of two teams:
The department oversees the annual cycle (P&C) process and advises other departments on broad F&B issues. The department also monitors compliance frameworks for F&B and assesses risk management. It develops policies for all operational aspects and ensures their organization-wide implementation. You will lead the two team leaders and have final responsibility for the ongoing development of all areas of expertise within your department. You will guide the development of the vision for these areas, working alongside dedicated and knowledgeable professionals. You will foster connections with other organizational units and drive development and innovation. In particular, the rapid developments within the I&A field will impact our process optimization and require extra attention. Wooncompas is an ambitious housing association, including in our operations. We offer plenty of room for initiative and innovation.
We are looking for a colleague who will help steer our ambitions as part of our management team. Someone with broad experience in finance and various operational roles, and who is an inspiring leader for the team members in the department—someone who identifies with and works in accordance with our core values.
We work with an integrated management team (MT). Together with the CEO, your fellow director of Housing, and the director of Real Estate, we provide leadership for our initiatives. Although the DT members each have their own portfolio, every member shares responsibility for decision-making on all topics. This means you are able to familiarize yourself with the broad range of issues relevant to a housing association and contribute your insights accordingly. You have the ability to grasp the core of a discussion at a strategic level and, together with your colleagues, translate the consequences of decision-making into the necessary organizational development across all operational units within your portfolio.
When putting together our Executive Board, we look for balance, diversity, and complementary personalities. In addition, we prefer a colleague who thinks in terms of possibilities, with sufficient focus, a results-oriented mindset, and a commitment to advancing our agenda. You will also serve as an advisor to the Audit Committee of our Board of Supervisors. Experience with governance is therefore an asset. Finally, you will represent Wooncompas in external sector consultations regarding finance and operations.
You have extensive managerial experience in business operations and finance. You have a solid foundation in business administration (e.g., an MBA) and possess the experience or ability to lead at a strategic level. Ideally, you also have a clear vision of developments within the I&A field (digitalization, data management, governance, GDPR, and security). You serve as a sounding board on content and process for your team leaders and other colleagues within the department. You are able to steer the process of renewal and innovation, while also prioritizing and ensuring the implementation of projects and programs. And you have experience with process optimization.
You’ll be working with professionals. We’re a flat organization where we trust our professionals and give them the space they need. This means you’ll set the framework and facilitate the conditions, and when necessary, serve as a sounding board for your two team members and the other professionals in your department—both in terms of content and processes. You guide and coach your team members in their development and challenge them to grow. You bring seniority and a broad perspective, and you foster connection and collaboration throughout the entire organization.
What matters to us is that you identify with our social mission, are curious and eager to learn, and have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with our field of work. We welcome candidates from outside our sector.
