LOC Waardevolle zorg is looking for a second board member who is willing to commit an average of 24 hours per week to our network. We are dedicated to promoting user involvement and innovation in (long-term) care.

LOC Valuable Care is a network of people involved in healthcare. We want everyone to be able to lead a meaningful life—even when they need care. We have articulated this in our vision “Valuable Care”. LOC is a nonprofit foundation and operates as a network organization.

Since 1978, we have been supporting client councils and other forms of employee participation in the healthcare sector. Since 2017, we have also been facilitating various reform initiatives in nursing care, home care, youth care, and mental health care.

LOC has two board members who coordinate the network. We are looking for a board member who wants to help set the direction for LOC, who will enthusiastically ensure cohesion within the network (both paid and unpaid staff), and who will oversee the administrative office. The two board members work together as a collegial board.

What are the responsibilities?

  • Together, we are implementing LOC's strategy
  • Strengthening organizational capacity
  • Building a learning organization: gathering and making accessible knowledge, experience, and guiding principles
  • Provide guidance, teach, and make adjustments as needed
  • Management of the administrative office (secretariat, information desk, and financial administration)
  • Human Resources
  • Ensuring the foundation's financial health (in collaboration with an external auditor)
  • Further developing employee participation services
  • Encouraging connectivity within the network
  • Organizing an Advisory Forum
  • Advocacy support
  • Interchangeability among directors

What matters to us?

  • Want to work in a network
  • collaborative and coaching style
  • Always ready to explore new paths
  • A balance between hands-on work and strategic thinking
  • Can switch quickly between different topics
  • Open attitude
  • Decisive and precise
  • Thoughtful and empathetic
  • Knowledge of finance and human resources
  • An affinity for IT
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Business acumen; knowing how to showcase the value you have to offer

LOC operates as a network organization that promotes diversity of backgrounds. For our board members, we work with independent contractors on a contract basis. Are you interested in this position? Please contact Theanne van Schaik (Chair of the Supervisory Board) at theannevanschaik@gmail.com. Or would you like to know more about the position? Please contact Thom van Woerkom (outgoing board member) at t.vanwoerkom@loc.nl

The application deadline for this position is Friday, July 14, 2023. The first interviews are scheduled for Friday, July 21, in Utrecht. The second interviews will take place on Wednesday, July 26.
